Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pair: metoclopramide can already make you feel drowsy or foggy on its own, and valerian is used to help people relax and sleep. Put them together and those calming effects may stack up, so you could feel sleepier, more tired, or less sharp than usual. This isn't about valerian changing how your body breaks down metoclopramide, it's simply two things that can both slow you down.

I'll be honest with you, this concern comes mostly from lab and animal research, so it's more of a theoretical caution than something proven in people. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially before driving or anything that needs full focus. Don't change either one on your own.

About Metoclopramide

What Is Metoclopramide Used For?

Brand names: Reglan, Metoclopramide Injection, Octamide

Metoclopramide tablets are used in adults for two main conditions. First, they treat symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux (GERD — when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus) in people who haven't gotten relief from standard treatments. Second, they ease symptoms of diabetic gastroparesis, a condition where nerve damage from diabetes causes the stomach to empty too slowly.

Treatment is meant to be short-term. For acid reflux, it's used for 4 to 12 weeks. For diabetic gastroparesis, it's generally used for 2 to 8 weeks. It is not recommended for children due to serious safety concerns.
