Here's the simple version: Pentazocine (Talwin) is an opioid pain reliever that already slows down your brain and nervous system, which is why it can make you feel sleepy or foggy. Valerian works in a similar calming direction, so stacking the two together could deepen that effect. You might feel more drowsy, dizzy, lightheaded, or slow to react than you would with the pain medicine alone.

One honest note: this interaction is mostly theoretical, based on lab and animal studies rather than strong human data, so it's not a guaranteed problem. Still, since both can pile on sedation, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and be extra careful about driving until you know how you feel.
