ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Iloprost
Iloprost falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Wild Carrot interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist for iloprost (Ventavis). This is an inhaled medicine that works by relaxing and widening your blood vessels, which helps lower the pressure in your lungs. The concern with wild carrot is a theoretical one: in lab and animal work, concentrated wild carrot seed oil may have a mild heart-stimulating (cardiotonic) effect that could push back against blood-pressure-lowering treatments like iloprost.
In plain terms, large supplement doses of the seed oil might blunt how well iloprost does its job, or tug your blood pressure around. To be clear, this is based on pharmacology theory, not strong human studies, and ordinary carrots on your plate aren't the issue. Before adding wild carrot, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Wild Carrot
What is Wild Carrot?
- Urinary and bladder complaints
- Digestive upset and gas
- Menstrual support
- Supporting milk production
- Mild diuretic (water pill) effect
Wild carrot is a traditional herb (the wild ancestor of the garden carrot) used mostly for urinary, digestive, and menstrual complaints. High-quality human studies are lacking, so its benefits are unproven, and it should be avoided in pregnancy because of traditional use to affect the uterus. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
