Theoretically, concomitant use might result in increased photosensitivity. Some drugs that cause photosensitivity include amitriptyline (Elavil), quinolones (Ciprofloxacin, others), sulfa drugs (Septra, Bactrim, others), and tetracycline.

Here's the gist: both wild carrot and quetiapine can, in theory, make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Wild carrot contains plant compounds (called furanocoumarins) that can react with UV light, and quetiapine is also listed among medicines that may raise your sun sensitivity. Put them together and you might sunburn faster or react more to bright sun than usual.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not something proven in real studies, so for most people it's a minor issue. Quetiapine's more common effects are drowsiness, dizziness, and weight gain, not skin problems. Still, it's smart to use sunscreen and limit strong sun. Run any new supplement past your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Quetiapine Used For?

Brand names: Seroquel, Dopaquel

Quetiapine treats schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in adults and certain age groups of children and adolescents. For bipolar disorder, it is approved for manic episodes (both as a stand-alone treatment and alongside lithium or divalproex) and for depressive episodes.

The extended-release form of quetiapine is also approved as add-on therapy for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults who are already taking an antidepressant. The regular tablet form is not approved for this use.
