PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS
Why this applies to Sertraline
Sertraline falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Wild Carrot interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist with wild carrot and sertraline (Zoloft): this isn't about your liver breaking the drug down or your blood levels shifting. Instead, both can make your skin a little more sensitive to sunlight. Sertraline itself can occasionally cause sun sensitivity, and wild carrot contains plant compounds that may do the same, so using them together might add up and leave you more prone to sunburn or a rash on exposed skin.
I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave, not something proven in real patients, so it's low on the worry list. Still, it's easy to play it safe: wear sunscreen, cover up, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

About Wild Carrot
What is Wild Carrot?
- Urinary and bladder complaints
- Digestive upset and gas
- Menstrual support
- Supporting milk production
- Mild diuretic (water pill) effect
Wild carrot is a traditional herb (the wild ancestor of the garden carrot) used mostly for urinary, digestive, and menstrual complaints. High-quality human studies are lacking, so its benefits are unproven, and it should be avoided in pregnancy because of traditional use to affect the uterus. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
About Sertraline
What Is Sertraline Used For?

For OCD specifically, the capsule formulations and some tablet products are approved for use in adults and children aged 6 and older. Sertraline hydrochloride tablets (plain, not film-coated) are approved for OCD in pediatric patients as well. However, sertraline is not approved for major depressive disorder in children — only in adults.

Sertraline Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Sertraline as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Wild Carrot — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
