Zeaxanthin + Insulin Lispro
Insulin Lispro brand names: Admelog, Admelog Solostar.
Zeaxanthin has a moderate interaction with Insulin Lispro. Theoretically, taking zeaxanthin with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Insulin Lispro
Insulin Lispro falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Zeaxanthin interacts with.
In an animal diabetic model, zeaxanthin has hypoglycemic effects. However, population research has found that increasing intake of dietary zeaxanthin plus lutein does not decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Insulin Lispro and zeaxanthin: insulin already lowers your blood sugar, and there's a thought that zeaxanthin might nudge it down a little further. If that happened, it could raise the chance of your sugar dropping too low (hypoglycemia), which can show up as shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, confusion, or feeling lightheaded.
I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. The blood-sugar-lowering effect was only seen in an animal study, and human research on dietary zeaxanthin didn't show a real diabetes benefit. So for most folks this is more theoretical than something you'd notice. Still, keep checking your glucose as usual, and chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding the supplement so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Insulin Lispro page
“Blood sugar is the entire subject of this list. Insulin lispro (Admelog) is a rapid mealtime insulin dosed to bring glucose down after eating, and the supplements below can shove that same number around, most of them downward, which risks a genuine low.”

About Zeaxanthin
What is Zeaxanthin?
- Eye and macular health
- Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
- Protection from blue light
- General antioxidant support
- Cataract risk reduction
Zeaxanthin is a carotenoid pigment that, along with lutein, concentrates in the macula of the eye and may help support long-term eye health. The strongest evidence relates to slowing progression of advanced age-related macular degeneration when combined with other nutrients, while many other uses remain unproven. It is generally well tolerated, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting any supplement.
About Insulin Lispro Injection
What Is Insulin Lispro Injection Used For?
Brand names: Admelog, Admelog Solostar
Insulin lispro injection is used to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in people with diabetes mellitus. It is a rapid-acting insulin analog approved for use in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Admelog is specifically indicated to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. Humalog Mix75/25 is indicated to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes mellitus; it is a fixed-ratio mixture of insulin lispro and insulin lispro protamine, and its fixed proportions do not allow for separate adjustment of basal (background) and prandial (mealtime) doses.

Insulin Lispro Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Insulin Lispro as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Zeaxanthin — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
