Acetaminophen, Hydrocodone falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Zizyphus interacts with.

Theoretically, zizyphus might cause additive sedative effects when taken with CNS depressants.
Some animal research has found that various parts of zizyphus have sedative effects. However, other animal research shows that zizyphus plant extract does not alter sleep parameters when used in combination with pentobarbital.

The hydrocodone part of your Vicodin or Norco is an opioid, and it already tends to make people feel drowsy, foggy, or slowed down. Zizyphus (jujube) has long been used as a calming, sleep-promoting remedy, so the concern here is simple: stacking the two could leave you more sedated than you expect. Think extra sleepiness, dizziness, or slower thinking, and in larger combinations, slower breathing.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It's theoretical, based mostly on animal studies, and some of that research didn't even show an added sleep effect. Eating jujube fruit as food is unlikely to be a problem. If you're considering a concentrated supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Theoretically, zizyphus might decrease the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Animal research shows that zizyphus induces CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the honest picture with Vicodin or Norco (acetaminophen with hydrocodone) and zizyphus. The concern on file is that zizyphus may speed up a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. If that happened, it could in theory clear certain medicines a little faster. But I want to be clear: this is based only on animal and lab research, and it has not been seen in people.

On top of that, CYP1A2 isn't a main pathway for either ingredient in this combo, so I wouldn't expect a meaningful change in your pain relief or in common effects like drowsiness, constipation, or nausea. Eating jujube fruit as food is very unlikely to matter. Still, before adding a concentrated zizyphus supplement, run it past your pharmacist or doctor, since both can also make you sleepy.
