Ondansetron falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Zizyphus interacts with.

Theoretically, zizyphus might decrease the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Animal research shows that zizyphus induces CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist: your body uses several liver enzymes, including one called CYP1A2, to break down ondansetron. Lab and animal studies suggest zizyphus may speed up that enzyme. If that happened in people, your body could clear ondansetron a little faster, which in theory might make it slightly less effective at preventing nausea and vomiting. Ondansetron is not a prodrug, so faster breakdown means less effect, not more.

The good news is this is only theoretical and based on animal research, with nothing reported in humans, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Eating jujube fruit as a food is very unlikely to matter. If you're using concentrated zizyphus supplements and rely on Zofran for nausea, just give your pharmacist or doctor a quick heads-up.

The fruit is a nutritious food, but human evidence for its medicinal benefits is limited and mostly preliminary. About Ondansetron

What Is Ondansetron Used For?

Brand name: Zofran

Ondansetron is used to prevent nausea and vomiting in several situations. Oral forms (tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, and oral solution) are approved to prevent nausea and vomiting from highly or moderately emetogenic (nausea-causing) cancer chemotherapy, from radiation therapy to the abdomen or whole body, and from surgery.

Ondansetron injection (given intravenously or intramuscularly in a clinical setting) is approved to prevent nausea and vomiting from emetogenic cancer chemotherapy — including high-dose cisplatin — in adults and children as young as 6 months old, as well as to prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting.
