What’s inside
Full disclosure
This powder contains 6 active ingredients: L-glutamine, three branched-chain amino acids (L-leucine, L-isoleucine, and L-valine), beta-alanine, and citrulline malate. These are amino acids—building blocks your body uses for muscle, recovery, and energy.
The inactive ingredients are citric acid, natural and artificial flavors, malic acid, sucralose, and acesulfame-K, which are fillers, flavoring, and sweeteners.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
L-glutamine is rated Effective for sickle cell disease and Possibly Effective for HIV/AIDS-related wasting, postoperative recovery, and critical illness from trauma. Beta-alanine is rated Possibly Effective for athletic and physical performance, though evidence isn't established for cognitive decline, COPD, cognitive function, or menopausal symptoms.
We don't hold effectiveness data for L-leucine, L-isoleucine, L-valine, or citrulline malate.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-glutamine is generally well tolerated but can cause belching, bloating, constipation, cough, diarrhea, flatulence, stomach pain, headache, muscle pain, nausea, and vomiting—especially at higher doses. A few cases of dizziness and mood changes (mania) have been reported in people with bipolar disorder.
If you have kidney or liver disease, use only under a doctor's supervision. During pregnancy, L-glutamine is rated Likely Safe; there isn't enough data for breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor before using it.
Beta-alanine is generally well tolerated but commonly causes a harmless tingling feeling (paresthesia) and flushing, starting on the scalp within 20 minutes and lasting about an hour. It should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding because there isn't enough safety information.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take anticonvulsant (seizure prevention) medication, double-check with your pharmacist before using this product—L-glutamine may theoretically interfere with how it works. No other interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.
