Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This supplement contains one active ingredient: acai 4:1 fruit extract, a concentrated form of acai berry. The product also includes inactive ingredients (capsule material, rice flour, magnesium stearate, and silica) that serve as a filler and binder.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Acai product and its label doesn't state a use — see Acai's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence isn't established in the data we hold for any of acai's marketed uses—aging skin, athletic performance, erectile dysfunction, high cholesterol, and weight loss all carry a rating of insufficient reliable evidence. That doesn't mean acai doesn't work for these; it means the science isn't there yet to prove it does.

How safe is it?

Some data gaps
Safety Information · database check
Some gaps

Safety data exists for these ingredients, but with some important gaps.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 0 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Acai is generally well tolerated as a food, but concentrated supplements at high doses haven't been well studied, so we don't have a full picture of how safe they are long-term. There isn't enough safety data on acai supplements during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using this if you're pregnant or nursing.

Meds to double-check

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Acai.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 86 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take any antidiabetes drugs (for blood sugar control), double-check with your pharmacist before starting acai. It may interfere with how well your medication works to keep your glucose steady.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.

If you're curious about acai as a supplement, it's generally well tolerated in food form. The main concern is blood sugar—if you take diabetes medication, check with your pharmacist first.

For other uses, the evidence is thin, so manage your expectations.

General Statements

Acai (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) is the berry from an Amazonian palm tree. It contains an interesting mix of nutrients and phytochemicals including anthocyanins – the pigments that give the ripe fruit its purple color. Anthocyanins are also potent antioxidants, and Acai fruit pulp has a very high antioxidant capacity. It has more antioxidant content than cranberry, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, or blueberry.

Acai Berry 500 mg by Earth Wise Vitamins & Supplements: Common Questions

Does Acai Berry 500 mg by Earth Wise Vitamins & Supplements interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Acai Berry 500 mg has a known interaction with 86 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Acai Berry 500 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Does acai help with weight loss?
The evidence isn't established in the data we hold. Acai is marketed for weight loss, but we don't have reliable research to say it works for that purpose.
Is acai safe to take if I'm pregnant?
Concentrated acai supplements haven't been studied in pregnancy, so there isn't enough safety data to know either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you.
Can I take acai while breastfeeding?
There isn't enough safety information on acai supplements during breastfeeding. It's best to check with your pharmacist or doctor before using it while nursing.
What is acai 4:1 extract?
It's a concentrated form of acai berry—the 4:1 means it takes four parts of acai to make one part of the extract, so you get a more potent dose in each capsule than you would from fresh berries.
Is acai well tolerated overall?
As a food, acai is generally well tolerated. But concentrated supplements at high doses haven't been studied thoroughly, so we don't know the full safety picture for long-term use.
