This capsule contains 5 active probiotic ingredients: Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, L. casei 431, Bifidobacterium lactis BB-12, and Streptococcus thermophilus TH-4. These are live microorganisms meant to support your gut flora.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients (vegetable cellulose, maltodextrin, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium alginate, silica, and vegetable magnesium stearate) that help hold it together and keep it stable.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5 is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis — meaning there's some supportive evidence, but it's not conclusive. The evidence doesn't support using it for atopic disease (like eczema or allergies), and there isn't enough reliable data on acute respiratory distress syndrome.
As for Streptococcus thermophilus, the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate its effectiveness for any of the conditions studied — antibiotic-associated diarrhea, bacterial vaginosis, fatty liver disease, constipation, diabetes, or diabetic kidney disease.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. The product may cause mild gastrointestinal side effects — such as stomach discomfort, bloating, gas, or diarrhea — but these are uncommon.
Because this product contains live organisms, there is a theoretical concern that in rare cases they could cause infection in certain patients, particularly those with severely weakened immune systems; most documented cases have occurred in people already at high risk. Streptococcus thermophilus is also generally well tolerated, though people with weakened immune systems should be cautious with any live probiotic supplement.
Neither ingredient has enough pregnancy and breastfeeding data on file, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you're pregnant or nursing.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
