Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Wellements Organic Baby Move is a 2-ingredient liquid containing organic prune concentrate and chicory root fiber — both common food-based ingredients aimed at digestive support. The product also includes filtered water, organic vegetable glycerin, and citric acid as inactive ingredients that help preserve and deliver the active components.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Prune concentrate is possibly effective for constipation, based on the evidence we hold. Chicory root fiber's effectiveness for any specific use is not established in our data — the available evidence is insufficient to rate it.
Neither ingredient has reliable evidence to support use for other conditions like bone density, cholesterol, liver health, blood sugar control, or digestion issues.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both prune concentrate and chicory root fiber are generally well tolerated when eaten in normal food amounts. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — gas, bloating, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort.
Prune concentrate carries a caution for pregnancy and breastfeeding because concentrated supplement forms haven't been well studied in those states, so there isn't enough data to know either way. Chicory root fiber is rated possibly unsafe in pregnancy due to traditional concerns about uterine stimulation, and the data is insufficient for breastfeeding — talk with your pediatrician or pharmacist before use if you're pregnant or nursing.
Rare but serious side effects from prunes include allergic reactions and, in infants, bowel obstruction if whole dried plums are swallowed; this product is a liquid concentrate, which carries lower obstruction risk. Chicory may trigger allergies in people sensitive to ragweed, chrysanthemums, daisies, or related plants.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before giving Organic Baby Move to a baby on any medication, double-check blood thinners (anticoagulants) or antiplatelet drugs — prune concentrate may increase bleeding risk. Also check diabetes medications (antidiabetes drugs) — chicory fiber may lower blood sugar and raise low-blood-sugar risk.
Use the search tool on this page to verify your baby's exact medications, and confirm with your pediatrician or pharmacist.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
