What’s inside
Full disclosure
This powder contains six active ingredients — three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) in a 2:1:1 ratio: L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, and L-Valine, plus sodium, potassium, and AstraGin (a nutrient-absorption ingredient). The inactive ingredients include sweeteners (sucralose and acesulfame potassium), colorants (FD&C Red #3 and #40), acids (malic, citric, and tartaric), silicon dioxide, calcium silicate, and salt.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
We hold no effectiveness data for the BCAAs or AstraGin in this product. Sodium and potassium in this product are minerals supplied for electrolyte balance, not for disease treatment, so effectiveness ratings don't apply to them in the usual sense.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Sodium is well tolerated at normal dietary levels, but too much is linked to high blood pressure and heart strain — regular dietary amounts are fine, but avoid sodium supplements or very high intake without talking it over with your doctor. Potassium from food is generally safe, though supplements can raise blood levels to dangerous levels in people with kidney disease; dietary potassium is appropriate, but check with your doctor before using potassium supplements, especially during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
For pregnancy and lactation: sodium is rated Likely Safe overall but Possibly Unsafe in some contexts, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant or nursing. Potassium is rated Likely Safe in pregnancy and lactation at dietary levels.
We have no pregnancy or lactation safety data on file for L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine, or AstraGin.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take blood pressure medications (antihypertensives), potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, corticosteroids, lithium, HIV medications like didanosine, or any other sodium-containing drug or supplement, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this product — the sodium and potassium here are documented to interact Moderately with all of these. No interactions are documented for the BCAA amino acids (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine) or AstraGin in our data.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This BCAA powder is built around amino acids and electrolytes. If you take blood pressure medications, diuretics, lithium, corticosteroids, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, or any sodium- or potassium-sensitive drug, check your exact medications with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — the sodium and potassium content here can meaningfully affect how those drugs work.
If you're pregnant, nursing, or have kidney disease, talk with your healthcare provider about whether this product is right for you.

BCAA Sour Patch Watermelon by GHOST Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
GHOST BCAA Sour Patch Watermelon contains sodium and potassium, both of which interact with medications.
Sodium is the more concerning contributor here — it has documented Moderate interactions with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives), where excess sodium can reduce their effectiveness and may require dose increases to control blood pressure.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Sodium also interacts Moderately with corticosteroids (which already cause the body to retain sodium), lithium (where high sodium intake lowers lithium blood levels and reduces its effect, while low sodium can cause toxicity), the HIV medication didanosine, sodium phosphate bowel-prep solutions, the low-sodium drug tolvaptan, and any other sodium-containing medications. Potassium raises its own concerns — it interacts Moderately with potassium-sparing water pills, ACE inhibitors, and ARBs (angiotensin receptor blockers, used for blood pressure and heart disease), all of which can elevate potassium to unsafe levels.
We could not check three other ingredients in this product: L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine, and AstraGin. Altogether, these interactions span 220 individual medications.
If you take any medication for blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disease, bipolar disorder, or HIV, or use a diuretic or corticosteroid, run your full medication list through the tool below before you start.

For each ingredient in BCAA Sour Patch Watermelon with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Sodium
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, a high intake of dietary sodium might reduce the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.
High intake of dietary sodium can increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Also, high intake of sodium may necessitate increased use of antihypertensive medications to achieve blood pressure control in some patients, such as those with chronic kidney disease.
Corticosteroids
Concomitant use of mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids (corticosteroids) cause sodium retention. This effect is dose-related and depends on mineralocorticoid potency. It is most common with hydrocortisone, cortisone, and fludrocortisone, followed by prednisone and prednisolone.
Didanosine (Videx)
Concomitant use of didanosine with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Didanosine formulations contain a significant amount of sodium.
Lithium
Altering dietary intake of sodium might alter the levels and clinical effects of lithium.
High sodium intake can reduce plasma concentrations of lithium by increasing lithium excretion. Reducing sodium intake can significantly increase plasma concentrations of lithium and cause lithium toxicity in patients being treated with lithium carbonate. Stabilizing sodium intake is shown to reduce the percentage of patients with lithium level fluctuations above 0.8 mEq/L. Patients taking lithium should avoid significant alterations in their dietary intake of sodium.
Sodium Phosphates
Theoretically, concomitant use of sodium phosphate with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Use of high doses (> 45 mL in 24 hours) of sodium phosphate, such as those used for bowel cleansing before surgery, can lead to serious electrolyte disturbances, including hypernatremia. The risk of hypernatremia is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Sodium-Containing Drugs
Concomitant use of sodium-containing drugs with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia and long-term sodium-related complications.
The Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) intake level of 2.3 grams of sodium daily indicates the intake at which it is believed that chronic disease risk increases for the apparently healthy population. Some medications contain high quantities of sodium. When used in conjunction with sodium supplements or high-sodium diets, the CDRR may be exceeded. Additionally, concomitant use may increase the risk for hypernatremia; this risk is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Tolvaptan (Samsca)
Theoretically, concomitant use of tolvaptan with sodium might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Tolvaptan is a vasopressin receptor 2 antagonist that is used to increase sodium levels in patients with hyponatremia. Patients taking tolvaptan should use caution with the use of sodium salts such as sodium chloride.
Potassium
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Using ACEIs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ACEIs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (Arbs)
Using ARBs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ARBs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Potassium-Sparing Diuretics
Concomitant use increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
Using potassium-sparing diuretics with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
