Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This powder contains 4 active ingredients: glutamine and three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs)—leucine, isoleucine, and valine. These are amino acids your body uses to build and repair muscle, especially during intense exercise or recovery from illness.
The product also contains inactive ingredients: citric acid, natural and artificial flavors, aspartame, and two food dyes (Yellow #5 and FD&C Blue #1).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Glutamine has been found effective for sickle cell disease. It's rated possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related muscle wasting (the loss of muscle mass that happens with the disease), recovery after surgery, and critical illness from trauma.
We don't have effectiveness ratings on file for leucine, isoleucine, or valine as individual ingredients in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Glutamine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults. The most common side effects are digestive—belching, bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain.
Headache and musculoskeletal pain have also been reported. If you have kidney or liver disease, use this only under a doctor's supervision.
Glutamine is rated likely safe in pregnancy; however, there isn't enough safety data for breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it while nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take anticonvulsant medications, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product—glutamine may reduce how well seizure drugs work. We also couldn't check leucine, isoleucine, and valine for interactions, so mention this product when you review your medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is designed for people looking to support muscle recovery and performance with amino acids. If you take an anticonvulsant medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist first—glutamine in this product might interfere with seizure control.
Anyone with kidney or liver disease should also clear it with their healthcare provider before starting. Otherwise, talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist to make sure it's right for you.

The other three active ingredients in this product—leucine, isoleucine, and valine—we don't have interaction data for, so we couldn't check them.
