HelloPharmacist Scorecard of BioBeet Juice Black Cherry by Triquetra
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Partial disclosure
BioBeet Juice Black Cherry contains 2 active ingredients: beet root juice powder and Total Protein. The beet root juice powder is where the active compounds — particularly betanin, the pigment responsible for beet's deep color — come from; these are what studies have linked to athletic performance and muscle recovery.
We hold no interaction data on Total Protein, so we cannot comment on its role or any effects it may have with medications. The product also contains several inactive ingredients (fillers and binders): organic beet juice powder, acacia, natural flavor, silica, and stevia extract.
These help bind the powder and improve taste but aren't active components.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Beet root juice powder is possibly effective for athletic performance and exercise-induced muscle soreness — meaning there's some evidence it may help, but it's not definitive. The evidence for dyslipidemia (high cholesterol or triglycerides) and cognitive function isn't strong enough to rate, and beet is possibly ineffective for COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), based on the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beet as a food is widely eaten and generally well tolerated by most adults. However, concentrated beet supplements lack the long-term safety data we have for the food form, so use caution with this product.
Short-term, it's well tolerated by mouth. The most common side effect is red-colored stools and urine — harmless and temporary.
Rarely, black stools have been reported. In very large amounts, beet theoretically could cause low blood calcium (hypocalcemia) or kidney damage because of its oxaluric acid content, though this is uncommon.
We don't hold safety data on Total Protein for pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check

Before taking this product, check these medication types: CYP3A4 substrates (a major drug-processing pathway; Moderate severity), blood pressure medications (Minor severity), and CYP1A2 substrates (Minor severity). If you take any of these, use the medication search tool below to check your exact drugs — this product affects a significant number of them.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glancePartially disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
BioBeet Juice Black Cherry may interest athletes or people recovering from exercise, but you must check your medications first — especially blood pressure drugs, heart medications, and anything processed by your liver. If you take any prescription medication or supplements, run them through the interaction checker on this page before you start.

BioBeet Juice Black Cherry by Triquetra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
BioBeet Juice Black Cherry by Triquetra contains beet root juice powder, which interacts with a significant number of medications.
The most serious concern is with drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 enzymes (a major liver pathway for drug breakdown). In vitro research shows that betanin, beet's main pigment, can inhibit this enzyme in a dose-dependent way, theoretically raising levels of these medications in your bloodstream — similar to how the antifungal ketoconazole does.
This is a Moderate severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Beet also has a Minor interaction with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives). Beet contains nitrates that cause blood vessel relaxation and can lower blood pressure; however, studies on concentrated beetroot juice haven't consistently shown significant effects on blood pressure or heart rate.
Additionally, beet theoretically may decrease levels of drugs processed by the CYP1A2 enzyme pathway (also a Minor interaction), though the clinical relevance is unclear.
We could not check Total Protein for interactions — we hold no data on it. Altogether, these interactions span 850 individual medications.
Before you start this product, check your exact medications with the search tool on this page, especially if you take blood pressure drugs, heart medications, immunosuppressants, or any other prescription that's processed through your liver.

Beet root juice powder
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that betanin, the major pigment in beet, competitively inhibits CYP3A4 in a dose-dependent manner similarly to strong CYP3A4 inhibitor ketoconazole.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Beet and beetroot contain nitrates, which can cause vasodilation, potentially leading to lower blood pressure. However, a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition using concentrated beetroot juice found no significant impact on blood pressure or heart rate in different age groups. Other small clinical studies suggest that while beet consumption might transiently lower blood pressure due to vessel dilation, there's no consistent evidence of a lasting effect. Overall, the theoretical risk of reduced blood pressure due to beet's nitrate content exists, but studies generally indicate a low and temporary impact rather than a sustained decrease.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that beet induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
