What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient, fresh astragalus, which is the herb the product is built around. Its effects are the subject of the effectiveness and safety sections below.
Alcohol is listed as its only inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
We hold effectiveness ratings for six conditions: allergic rhinitis (hay fever), amenorrhea (missed periods), chemotherapy-induced anemia, angina, asthma, and beta-thalassemia. For every one of them, the rating is Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate, which means the evidence isn't established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Our safety note describes astragalus as generally well tolerated short-term in healthy adults, but it adds that quality human safety data is limited. Reported side effects include dizziness and palpitations, with the strongest reports tied to intravenous use, along with rash, eczema, and itching.
In one oral trial, lacunar angina was reported, though astragalus may not have caused it. For pregnancy and breastfeeding, there isn't enough reliable safety data to know either way.
Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist for advice that fits your situation.

Double-check with your own doctor or pharmacist if you take immunosuppressants (rated Moderate), lithium (Moderate), cyclophosphamide (Moderate), or antidiabetes drugs (Moderate). These are the only medication types documented for astragalus in our data.

Biodynamic Astragalus Extract by Oregon's Wild Harvest Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Oregon's Wild Harvest Biodynamic Astragalus Extract interacts with several types of medication, and its only ingredient, astragalus, is the source of every documented interaction.
The first type to know about is immunosuppressants (drugs that calm the immune system), rated Moderate. Astragalus seems to stimulate immune function, so it might reduce how well these drugs work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Three other drug types are also affected. Lithium, a mood-stabilizing medicine, may build up to higher levels with more side effects, because astragalus may have a diuretic effect that lowers how much lithium your body clears.
Cyclophosphamide, a chemotherapy drug, may also be affected, though the animal research on this is conflicting. Antidiabetes drugs (diabetes medications) may raise the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), especially when combined with other blood sugar-lowering agents.
Altogether, these interactions span 208 individual medications. Because astragalus is the only ingredient, there is no other ingredient to check.
Use the search tool on this page to look up your exact medications before you start.
