This product contains one active ingredient: bloodroot root extract. Bloodroot is a plant used traditionally in oral care—toothpastes and mouthwashes—and occasionally taken by mouth for other purposes.
The liquid form here contains alcohol, water, and glycerin as inactive ingredients to deliver the extract.

Moderate evidence
Bloodroot has possibly effective evidence for reducing dental plaque and gingivitis (gum inflammation). For periodontitis (deeper gum disease), the evidence isn't strong enough to rate it either way.
If you're thinking about it for dental health, the data suggests it may help with plaque and mild gum issues, but talk to your dentist about whether it's right for your situation.
How safe is it?

This is where bloodroot needs a close look. Taken by mouth in appropriate short-term doses, it's generally well tolerated, but nausea, vomiting, and CNS depression (drowsiness, sedation) have been reported.
High oral doses can cause glaucoma, low blood pressure, shock, and coma. Long-term use—especially of bloodroot toothpaste or mouthwash—has been linked to mouth sores, rough patches in the mouth, loss of taste, and staining of the tongue, teeth, and fillings.
Applied to skin, bloodroot is corrosive and can cause severe pain, burning, skin erosion, and permanent scarring. The safety data advises against it during pregnancy because it may be toxic, and advises against it while breastfeeding due to lack of safety data and potential toxicity.

Suggested use: Shake well before using. For adults add about 20-30 drops (0.7-1 mL, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) to some juice or water, up to 4 times a day.
