Blue Cohosh by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Blue Cohosh by Herbal Terra can interact with several important medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives). Blue cohosh contains compounds that may actually raise your blood pressure through a narrowing effect on blood vessels in the heart.
This could reduce how well your blood pressure drugs work and potentially decrease protection against angina. Blood pressure medications affected include captopril, enalapril, losartan, valsartan, and diltiazem, among others.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Blue cohosh may also increase blood sugar levels, which means it could interfere with diabetes medications. This includes insulin, glyburide, glimepiride, pioglitazone, rosiglitazone, and chlorpropamide.
Additionally, blue cohosh can amplify the effects of nicotine, which is a concern if you use nicotine products.
Altogether, these interactions span 259 individual medications. If you take any prescription medication—especially for blood pressure or diabetes—use the search tool below to check your specific drugs before starting this product.
