What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking BroccoRaphanin against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
BroccoRaphanin contains 2 active ingredients: broccoli extract (standardized as BroccoRaphanin) and sulforaphane glucosinolate, a compound naturally found in broccoli and related cruciferous vegetables. These are packaged in a capsule with inactive ingredients including a cellulose-based binder, a plant-derived lubricant, and chlorophyll for color.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for BroccoRaphanin is limited to a few areas. Broccoli itself is rated possibly effective for colorectal cancer prevention, though the data for other cancers — bladder, breast, and gastric — is insufficient to rate.
Sulforaphane is rated possibly effective for prostate cancer and possibly ineffective for H. pylori infection. For other conditions like fibromyalgia, asthma, and allergies, we don't have enough reliable evidence in our data to say whether either ingredient helps.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Broccoli as a food is well tolerated by most people, but concentrated supplements like this one haven't been studied as thoroughly for long-term safety — check with your doctor before starting if you're concerned. Adverse effects reported with broccoli extracts include loose stools, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and cramping, particularly at higher doses.
Sulforaphane is generally well tolerated orally, though bowel discomfort, heartburn, stomach upset, and vomiting have been reported; headache, insomnia, and irritability occurred in clinical trials. Rare cases of seizure have been reported in males with autism taking sulforaphane.
For pregnancy, the safety data advises against sulforaphane supplements — stick to broccoli in your diet instead — though regular broccoli is considered likely safe.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this supplement, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take any medications metabolized by CYP1A2 enzymes (Moderate severity) — broccoli in this product can reduce their levels and effects. Also ask about drugs that depend on CYP2A6, CYP3A4, or CYP2E1, since the ingredients may affect those enzymes too.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
BroccoRaphanin may be worth considering if you're interested in the research around broccoli and cancer prevention, especially colorectal cancer. But this supplement can meaningfully change how your liver processes many common medications, so it's essential to check your exact drugs with your doctor or pharmacist before you start.
If you have a history of seizures or take seizure medications, mention that when you talk it over.

BroccoRaphanin by Progressive Professional from Progressive Laboratories Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
BroccoRaphanin by Progressive Professional contains broccoli and sulforaphane glucosinolate, both of which can interact with several medication types.
The most serious concern involves drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 enzymes (a group of proteins in your liver that break down medications). Broccoli in this supplement can significantly boost CYP1A2 activity — human research shows increases of 10% to 200% — which may reduce how well those drugs work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Sulforaphane, the supplement's other active ingredient, affects three additional enzyme systems. It may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 and CYP2E1 (potentially making them stronger), while its effects on CYP1A2 are mixed — animal studies suggest it could inhibit the enzyme, but its precursor may actually activate it.
Broccoli also boosts CYP2A6 activity dramatically (135% to 550% in human studies), which can lower levels of medications that depend on that enzyme.
Altogether, these interactions span 724 individual medications. Because the enzyme-inducing effects vary depending on dose and how long you take the supplement, you'll want to check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before starting.

For each ingredient in BroccoRaphanin with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Sulforaphane Glucosinolate
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, sulforaphane might alter the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP1A2 enzyme activity. However, its precursor glucoraphanin also appears to increase the expression of the CYP1A2 enzyme, which could lead to increased metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates. These effects have not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Theoretically, sulforaphane might increase the levels and effects of CYP2E1 substrates.
In vitro evidence shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP2E1 enzymes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, sulforaphane might increase the levels and effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity and downregulates its expression. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
BroccoRaphanin
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of fresh broccoli daily for 6-12 days can increase CYP1A2 activity by 10% to 200%. Induction of CYP1A2 activity by broccoli is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.
Cytochrome P450 2A6 (Cyp2A6) Substrates
Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2A6.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of broccoli daily for 6 days increases CYP2A6 activity by 135% to 550%. Induction of CYP2A6 activity is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.
