Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Buddy Bear Probiotic has 5 active ingredients centered on beneficial bacteria and their food source. The main player is Lactobacillus acidophilus, a live probiotic strain that's supposed to support digestive and gut health.
You'll also find Bifidobacterium infantis (another probiotic bacterium), Bifidus, and FOS—a type of fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria. The product also contains inactive ingredients like citric acid, natural orange flavor, and vegetable-based binders to hold the tablet together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Lactobacillus acidophilus carries several "Possibly Effective" ratings in our data: for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. The evidence isn't airtight, but it suggests some potential benefit in these areas.
For other conditions in the data, the evidence is either insufficient to rate or points to ineffectiveness. We don't have effectiveness information on file for the other active ingredients in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Most people have no side effects.
A small number of trial participants taking L. acidophilus combined with other probiotics reported mild gastrointestinal discomfort—things like bloating, gas, or stomach pain—but these are uncommon. In rare cases, live probiotic organisms have been linked to serious infections in vulnerable people, though this is not typical.
The safety data suggests it's likely low risk, but there's limited information, so check with your doctor before use, especially if you're immunocompromised or have other health concerns.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your antibiotic medications before starting this product—Lactobacillus acidophilus can be less effective if taken together with antibiotics, so you'll need to separate them. No interactions are documented for the other active ingredients we could assess, but we couldn't check Bifidus, FOS, or Bifidobacterium infantis, so use the search tool for your full medication list.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Buddy Bear Probiotic is worth considering if you're looking to support your gut health with live bacteria, and it may help with IBS, antibiotic-related diarrhea, or a few other digestive issues. If you take antibiotics, space them away from this supplement—don't take them at the same time.
Before you start, run your medications through the tool on this page, and talk to your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you have a weakened immune system.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
