HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Cardiovascular Mender by BioAnue
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Cardiovascular Mender contains 6 active ingredients. Bromelain is an enzyme from pineapple; adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a molecule involved in cellular energy; ubidecarenone, also known as coenzyme Q10, is an antioxidant your body makes naturally; serrapeptase is an enzyme; and nattokinase is an enzyme derived from fermented soybeans.
The product also includes pancreatin, which we were unable to check for interactions. These are combined in a gelatin capsule.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence for most ingredients in this product is limited. Bromelain, serrapeptase, and nattokinase all have insufficient reliable evidence for the conditions listed in the product facts — which include hay fever, burns, chronic venous insufficiency, bronchitis, back pain, and cardiovascular disease.
Adenosine triphosphate's oral supplement form has not been studied thoroughly enough to rate its effectiveness for cardiovascular health, though the prescription injectable form is effective for specific heart rhythm problems. Coenzyme Q10 shows more promise: it's likely effective for CoQ10 deficiency and possibly effective for heart failure, migraines, diabetic nerve damage, and fibromyalgia.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Bromelain, serrapeptase, and nattokinase are generally well tolerated in the short term, but long-term safety data is limited. The most common side effects from these three are gastrointestinal — diarrhea, nausea, upset stomach, and abdominal pain.
Coenzyme Q10 is generally well tolerated; gastrointestinal side effects like appetite suppression, diarrhea, and nausea occur in less than 1% of patients. Some people have reported headache, dizziness, or insomnia.
Adenosine's oral supplement form has not been thoroughly evaluated for safety. For pregnancy: bromelain, serrapeptase, and nattokinase should be avoided — there isn't enough safety data.
Adenosine and coenzyme Q10 should also be avoided in pregnancy and while breastfeeding due to insufficient data.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check these medication types with your pharmacist: dipyridamole and other heart medications (Major severity); blood thinners and aspirin-type drugs, blood pressure medications, carbamazepine, and chemotherapy drugs (Moderate severity); and caffeine or theophylline supplements (Minor severity). No interactions are documented for pancreatin, one of the ingredients, because we hold no data for it.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is not suitable if you take blood thinners, aspirin, or heart medications like dipyridamole, carbamazepine, or warfarin — the interaction risks are real and potentially serious. If you take any prescription medication, especially for your heart or blood pressure, check it against the tool below before you start.

Cardiovascular Mender by BioAnue Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Cardiovascular Mender by BioAnue contains six ingredients, and several of them interact with medications.
The most serious interaction we've documented is between adenosine triphosphate (one of the active ingredients) and dipyridamole (Persantine), a heart medication. Dipyridamole can increase both the therapeutic and toxic effects of adenosine, potentially causing dizziness, a slow heart rate, and fainting — and dipyridamole should be stopped several days before any cardiac stress test using adenosine.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The product also carries Moderate-severity interactions with anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs (blood thinners and aspirin-type medications). Bromelain, serrapeptase, and nattokinase all may increase bleeding risk when combined with these drugs.
Additionally, coenzyme Q10 may reduce the effectiveness of warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner, and nattokinase may lower blood pressure further when combined with blood pressure medications. Adenosine may also increase the risk of heart block with carbamazepine (Tegretol).
Finally, methylxanthines (including caffeine and theophylline) can block the effects of adenosine.
Although we could not check pancreatin for interactions, bromelain, adenosine triphosphate, coenzyme Q10, serrapeptase, and nattokinase have all been reviewed. Altogether, these interactions span 365 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Cardiovascular Mender with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Nattokinase
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Nattokinase might increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
Nattokinase has thrombolytic and anticoagulant effects. There is a case report of intracranial hemorrhage in a patient who added nattokinase to aspirin therapy.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, nattokinase might increase the risk of hypotension when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research suggests that nattokinase may reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Ubidecarenone
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
Bromelain
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Bromelain may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
There is one case report of a patient experiencing minor bruising while taking bromelain with naproxen. Bromelain is thought to have antiplatelet activity. Whether this interaction is of concern with topical bromelain is unclear. Interference with coagulation of burn wounds has been reported in a patient receiving bromelain-based enzymatic debridement. However, observational research has found that topical bromelain debridement is not associated with increases or decreases in laboratory markers of coagulation when compared with surgical debridement.
Tetracycline Antibiotics
Theoretically, bromelain might increase levels of tetracycline antibiotics.
Laboratory research suggests that bromelain might increase the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics. However, a study in healthy adults reported no difference in tetracycline plasma levels when a 500 mg dose was taken with or without bromelain 80 mg.
Serrapeptase
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, taking serrapeptase with drugs that have antiplatelet or anticoagulant effects might increase the risk of bruising and bleeding.
In vitro research shows that serrapeptase has fibrinolytic activity.
Adenosine Triphosphate
Dipyridamole (Persantine)
Dipyridamole can increase the therapeutic and toxic effects of adenosine.
Dipyridamole decreases the metabolism of adenosine. Intravenous infusion of adenosine in patients who are taking dipyridamole can cause dizziness, bradycardia, and syncope. Dipyridamole should be discontinued for several days prior to a cardiac stress test using adenosine.
Carbamazepine (Tegretol)
Carbamazepine might increase the risk of heart block when used concomitantly with adenosine.
Carbamazepine and adenosine can both cause heart block. Giving them concurrently might produce an additive effect.
Methylxanthines
Methylxanthines are competitive antagonists of adenosine and can block its pharmacologic effects.
The methylxanthines, aminophylline, caffeine, and theophylline, can block the effects of adenosine by acting as competitive antagonists at adenosine cell surface receptors. It is recommended that methylxanthines be avoided for 24 hours prior to cardiac stress tests.
