Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: cassia seed extract, derived from cassia cinnamon. The powder form delivers the whole extract with no added inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
We hold insufficient reliable evidence to rate cassia seed extract for any of the conditions listed in the data — amenorrhea, angina, common cold, diabetes, diarrhea, and dyslipidemia (high cholesterol and triglycerides). That means the evidence either isn't strong enough yet or hasn't been well studied for these uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cassia cinnamon is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but supplement doses — especially high-dose or long-term use — raise concerns. The extract contains coumarin, which may harm your liver over extended use.
In clinical trials, doses of 360 mg to 12 grams daily for three months did not significantly elevate liver enzymes in the participants tested, but the safety data advises caution with medicinal or high-dose amounts, particularly during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Adverse effects reported in trials and case reports include a rash in one person taking 1 gram daily for 90 days, eyelid dermatitis (skin inflammation) linked to a cinnamon allergy, and one hypoglycemic seizure (low blood sugar seizure) in a patient taking 1 gram daily — though it's unclear if the supplement caused that event.
If you have a known allergy to cinnamon or cinnamic alcohol, this product is not for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your pharmacist if you take diabetes medications (your blood sugar could drop further) or drugs that stress the liver (hepatotoxic drugs). The supplement may add to liver strain over long-term use.
No other drug categories are documented as interacting with the ingredient we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Cassia seed extract may be worth considering if you're exploring herbal approaches to blood sugar or cholesterol, but the evidence for those uses isn't established in our data. If you take diabetes or liver medications, talk with your pharmacist before starting — the interactions are real, and dose adjustments might be needed.
Stick to food amounts if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Cassia Seed Extract by BulkSupplements.com contains one active ingredient — cassia cinnamon — which interacts with medications used to manage two major drug categories.
The most serious concern is with drugs that stress the liver (hepatotoxic drugs). In theory, large doses of cassia cinnamon could add to that liver stress over time, because the extract contains coumarin, a compound that can damage the liver in animal studies.
Very high coumarin doses (50–7,000 mg per day) have caused liver damage in humans, though it reversed once the coumarin stopped.

Cassia cinnamon may also lower blood sugar (glucose) levels and could have additive effects if you take diabetes medications (antidiabetes drugs). This means your blood sugar might drop more than expected, and your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
Almogether, these interactions span 425 individual medications. Before you start this product, check your exact prescriptions using the search tool on this page — especially if you take liver-support medications or diabetes drugs.

Cassia seed extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, cassia cinnamon may have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Cassia cinnamon may lower blood glucose levels, and have additive effects in patients treated with antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, large doses of cassia cinnamon might cause additive effects when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of cassia cinnamon for an extended duration might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animal models. In humans, very high doses of coumarin from 50-7000 mg/day can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.
