What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 7 active ingredients.
  • “DigeSEB Digestive Enzyme Blend” is a proprietary blend — the label gives one combined amount (50 mg) without saying how much of each component you get.

This powder contains 7 active ingredients working together as digestive enzymes and a collagen supplement. Hydrolyzed collagen is the main structural ingredient — it's collagen that's been broken down into small peptides your body can absorb easily.

The enzyme blend includes lipase (breaks down fats), lactase (breaks down milk sugar), proteases (break down proteins), amylase, and cellulase, plus Lactobacillus acidophilus, a beneficial gut bacteria. There are no inactive fillers listed.

Not established
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Collagen peptides with digestive enzyme support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Joint pain, Knee pain, Osteoarthritis, Exercise-induced muscle damage, Exercise-induced muscle soreness, Muscle strength — and 4 related terms.
  • The closest evidence on file: Collagen Peptides is rated "Possibly Ineffective" for Muscle strength (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Collagen Peptides is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Exercise-induced muscle soreness, Osteoarthritis, Knee pain, Wound healing, and more.

Hydrolyzed collagen is possibly effective for aging skin and dry skin, though the evidence isn't complete. For muscle strength, the data suggests it's likely ineffective.

L. acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, bacterial vaginosis, and Helicobacter pylori infection — though again, evidence is incomplete for all of these. Lactase is effective for lactose intolerance.

For the other enzymes and most other uses, we either don't have effectiveness data or the evidence is too limited to rate.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 5 of the 5 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 5 of 5.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 5 of 5.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hydrolyzed collagen is generally well tolerated, with nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, and gas being rare. L. acidophilus is also generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though it may rarely cause mild gut discomfort like bloating or diarrhea when combined with other probiotics.

Lactase is generally well tolerated and likely safe during pregnancy. For proteases, there's limited safety data in pregnancy, so check with your doctor first.

Lipase has little safety data in pregnancy and while breastfeeding, so ask your healthcare provider. L. acidophilus is possibly safe during pregnancy but data during breastfeeding are limited.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 5 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Lactobacillus Acidophilus.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • For scale: 182 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check your antibiotic drugs with us before you take this product — Lactobacillus acidophilus can reduce their effectiveness if taken at the same time. The other ingredients we hold data for have no documented interactions, but we couldn't check amylase or cellulase.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

This is a straightforward digestive enzyme and collagen powder suitable for most adults looking to support digestion and skin health. If you take antibiotics, you'll want to space them apart from the L. acidophilus.

If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor about the ingredients — safety data are limited for several of them. Run your medications through the checker before starting.

Antibiotic Drugs

Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.

Collagen Peptides Unflavored by Physician's Choice: Common Questions

Does Collagen Peptides Unflavored by Physician's Choice interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Collagen Peptides Unflavored has a known interaction with 182 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Collagen Peptides Unflavored contains 8 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Does this work for digestive issues?
It depends on the issue. L. acidophilus is possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome. The enzymes — lipase, lactase, and proteases — are designed to break down food, but we don't have strong evidence they work for specific digestive conditions. Talk to your pharmacist about whether this fits your situation.
Will this help my skin?
Hydrolyzed collagen is possibly effective for aging skin and dry skin, so it may help with those concerns. However, the evidence isn't definitive, and results vary from person to person.
Is lactase in here because of dairy?
Yes. Lactase breaks down lactose, the sugar in milk and dairy products. If you're lactose intolerant, this ingredient can help you digest dairy without discomfort.
Can I take this while I'm on antibiotics?
You can, but not at the same time. The antibiotics will kill the live L. acidophilus bacteria in this product, making it ineffective. Ask your pharmacist how far apart to space them — usually a few hours is enough.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
Safety data are limited for most of the ingredients here. Lactase is likely safe, but lipase, proteases, and L. acidophilus don't have enough pregnancy data to be sure. Check with your doctor before using during pregnancy.
What are these enzymes supposed to do?
Lipase breaks down fats, lactase breaks down milk sugar, and proteases break down proteins — all to help your digestive system process food more easily. Amylase breaks down starches, and cellulase breaks down fiber.
