Cordyceps Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by toniiq
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Cordyceps against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: cordyceps mycelium extract. Cordyceps is a fungus that proponents use to support athletic performance and energy, though the evidence for these uses remains mixed or unclear.
The capsule also includes inactive ingredients—hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide—which are binders and fillers that help form and preserve the capsule.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for cordyceps is limited. For athletic performance, it's rated possibly ineffective based on available data we hold.
For sexual dysfunction, asthma, arrhythmia, COPD, and lung cancer, there isn't enough reliable evidence to make a rating. If you're considering this product for one of those uses, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the current research actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cordyceps appears generally well tolerated when taken for up to a year, though long-term safety data is sparse and product quality varies widely. The most common side effects are mild—abdominal discomfort, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, and throat discomfort—and were uncommon in studies; some people found symptoms eased by taking it after eating.
There's one case report of liver inflammation (cholestasis) in a person taking a cordyceps product, but it's unclear whether cordyceps or a contaminant was responsible. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety data to know either way; the evidence advises against use, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this cordyceps product, confirm with your doctor or pharmacist that you don't take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (a Moderate concern for bleeding risk), immunosuppressants like cyclosporine (a Moderate concern for reduced drug effect), or testosterone products (a Minor concern for additive effects).
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Toniiq Cordyceps is a single-ingredient supplement with three documented medication interactions, most notably with blood thinners and immune-suppressing drugs. It's generally well tolerated short-term, though evidence for its athletic or sexual health claims is weak or absent.
Before you start, check your medications—especially if you take anticoagulants, immunosuppressants, or testosterone therapy—with your doctor or pharmacist.

Cordyceps by toniiq Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Toniiq Cordyceps contains cordyceps mycelium extract, which has documented interactions with blood thinners, immunosuppressants, and testosterone products.
The most serious concern is a Moderate-severity interaction with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and antiplatelet drugs—cordyceps may increase bleeding risk. This effect comes from lab and animal research showing cordyceps can slow platelet clumping, though it hasn't been seen in human patients yet.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Cordyceps also carries a Moderate-severity interaction with immunosuppressants like cyclosporine. Animal and lab studies suggest cordyceps revs up the immune system, which could undermine the medication's ability to keep your immune response in check.
Additionally, there's a Minor-severity interaction with testosterone products; animal research hints cordyceps may raise testosterone levels, and taking both together could add up.
Altogether, these interactions span 249 individual medications. Use the search tool below to check your exact prescriptions before you start, especially if you take any blood thinner, immunosuppressant, or hormone therapy.

For each ingredient in Cordyceps with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Cordyceps Mycelium Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Testosterone
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps and testosterone might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that cordyceps can increase testosterone levels. The clinical significance of this finding is unclear.
