HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Digestive Daily Probiotic by Culturelle
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Culturelle Digestive Daily Probiotic contains 2 active ingredients: Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (a probiotic bacteria) and inulin (a type of soluble fiber from plants). The product also includes inactive ingredients — hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, vegetable magnesium stearate, and titanium dioxide — which are fillers and capsule materials.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Inulin in this product is rated possibly effective for obesity and constipation, and possibly effective for diabetes. For nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and iron deficiency anemia, the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate its effectiveness.
We have no effectiveness data on file for Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Inulin is generally well tolerated, especially in food amounts. The most common side effects are bloating, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, and stomach cramps — especially at higher doses (over 30 grams).
Anaphylaxis following inulin consumption is rare but has been reported. The product is rated likely safe in pregnancy and lactation based on inulin; however, safety data for Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not on file, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
If you take antidiabetes drugs, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — inulin may theoretically increase the risk of low blood sugar, though the effect is unclear. We could not check Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG for interactions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may be worth considering if you're looking to support digestive health, but if you take diabetes medications, check your exact prescriptions with your doctor or pharmacist first — inulin's effect on blood sugar isn't fully clear. Watch for bloating and gas, especially when you first start.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, confirm with your own healthcare provider before taking it.
