Fermented Digestive Enzymes Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Codeage
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Fermented Digestive Enzymes against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Fermented Digestive Enzymes by Codeage
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Codeage Fermented Digestive Enzymes contains 25 ingredients, including active digestive enzymes and probiotics. The enzyme side includes amylase, lipase, lactase, cellulase, and several others that break down carbohydrates, fats, and proteins so your body can absorb them better.
You also get two live probiotics—Saccharomyces boulardii and Bacillus subtilis—to support healthy gut bacteria. The product is rounded out with apple cider vinegar, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, and kiwi powder for additional digestive support.
The capsule itself is made from vegetable cellulose.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence for most of these ingredients is limited. Lactase is effective for lactose intolerance—if you can't digest milk sugar, this enzyme directly addresses that.
Ginger is possibly effective for pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting, period pain (dysmenorrhea), and osteoarthritis pain. Saccharomyces boulardii is possibly effective for traveler's diarrhea, diarrhea caused by antibiotics, and a few related conditions.
Turmeric is possibly effective for depression, high cholesterol, and allergies. For the rest—including the other enzymes, apple cider vinegar, black pepper, and kiwi—we don't have solid evidence of effectiveness in our data.
That doesn't mean they don't work; it means the research either hasn't been done or hasn't been conclusive enough to rate them.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Most of these ingredients are generally well tolerated in the doses found in food or supplements. Ginger is safe at typical food and supplement amounts, though amounts above 5 grams daily increase the risk of mild side effects like stomach upset or heartburn.
Turmeric is safe as a spice but can rarely cause liver problems with long-term supplement use. Black pepper as a spice is safe; concentrated piperine supplements should be used more carefully.
Apple cider vinegar in food amounts is fine, but large medicinal doses carry rare risks including low potassium and weakened bones with long-term use. Saccharomyces boulardii is generally safe for healthy adults but should be avoided by people who are critically ill or have weakened immune systems.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding: ginger is likely safe during pregnancy and lactation. Turmeric is likely safe during pregnancy and lactation, but one rating says it's possibly unsafe in pregnancy—check with your doctor.
Lactase is likely safe in pregnancy. Black pepper is likely safe in pregnancy and lactation, but one rating says it's possibly unsafe in pregnancy.
Kiwi is likely safe in pregnancy and lactation. For lipase, phytase, apple cider vinegar, S. boulardii, and B. subtilis, there isn't enough data to know either way, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this product, double-check these medication types with your own doctor or pharmacist: blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs), heart medications including digoxin and nifedipine, warfarin, blood pressure drugs, diabetes and insulin medications, antibiotic and antifungal drugs, seizure medications, liver-metabolized drugs, immunosuppressants like tacrolimus, and cancer medications. The most serious risks are Moderate-severity interactions with heart drugs, blood thinners, and blood pressure medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-ingredient digestive enzyme and probiotic blend with some evidence behind ginger, lactase, and S. boulardii for specific digestive concerns—but many ingredients lack solid proof of benefit. The biggest caution is its interactions: the apple cider vinegar, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, and kiwi all interact with various medications, from blood thinners to heart drugs to antibiotics.
If you take any prescription medication, check your exact drugs with the tool on this page before starting. Talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to make sure it's right for you.

Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Apple cider vinegar also interacts with digoxin (a heart medication), insulin, and antidiabetes drugs—all rated Moderate except antidiabetes drugs, which are Minor. Ginger poses Moderate-severity risks with blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs), warfarin, phenprocoumon, nifedipine, losartan, and several other drug types including those metabolized by the liver (CYP3A4 substrates) and drugs that depend on a carrier protein called P-glycoprotein.
Turmeric carries Moderate interactions with cancer medications, immunosuppressants like tacrolimus, methotrexate, and several other drugs. Black pepper may raise levels of heart, seizure, antibiotic, and other medications—all Moderate severity.
Kiwi powder interacts with blood pressure medications and blood thinners at Moderate severity.
Saccharomyces boulardii (a probiotic) has a Minor interaction with antifungal drugs, and Bacillus subtilis has a Moderate interaction with antibiotics. Several other ingredients—amylase, cellulase, invertase, glucoamylase, alpha-galactosidase, xylanase, pectinase, and beta-glucanase—could not be checked for interactions.
