What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 2 active ingredients.
  • “FitTrim Cardiaslim Blend” is a proprietary blend — the label gives one combined amount (400 mg) without saying how much of each component you get.

FitTrim contains two active ingredients: Sphaeranthus indicus (flower heads) extract and Garcinia mangostana (fruit rind) extract, commonly known as mangosteen. The product also includes several inactive ingredients — a vegetarian capsule, microcrystalline cellulose (a binder), magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and rice hull concentrate — that help form and preserve the capsule.

Not established
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Mangosteen's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: weight management and cardiovascular health.
  • We looked for evidence on: Obesity, weight loss, lipid management, metabolic health.
  • The closest evidence on file: Mangosteen is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Obesity (Natural Medicines).

Mangosteen extract is possibly effective for periodontitis (gum infection and inflammation). For androgenic alopecia (pattern hair loss), Alzheimer disease, and atopic dermatitis (eczema), the evidence we have is insufficient to rate it one way or the other.

We hold no effectiveness data for Sphaeranthus indicus.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Mangosteen extract is generally considered safe as a food, though long-term safety of concentrated supplements hasn't been well studied. In trials using up to 560 mg daily, a small number of participants reported mild tiredness, headache, dizziness, malaise, and gastrointestinal symptoms including nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort; dry throat and flu-like symptoms were also noted, though it isn't clear these were caused by mangosteen.

There isn't enough safety information to know whether mangosteen is safe in pregnancy or while breastfeeding — the data advises against using supplement amounts during pregnancy and lactation.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Mangosteen.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 125 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking FitTrim if you use blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs) — mangosteen may raise your bleeding risk. Also flag donepezil (Aricept) if you take it, since mangosteen might boost its effects.

No interactions are documented for Sphaeranthus indicus, the other active ingredient.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

FitTrim may be worth considering if you're interested in gum health and have no concerns with its ingredient profile. If you take blood thinners or donepezil, you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.

The same goes if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking any prescription medication — talk it over with your own healthcare provider to make sure it's right for you.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro and animal research shows that gamma-mangostin, a constituent of mangosteen, is a potent and competitive antagonist of the serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor. Antagonism of the 5-HT2A receptor is believed to reduce platelet aggregation.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Donepezil (Aricept)

Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with donepezil might increase the effects of donepezil.
Animal research shows that concomitant use of an aqueous extract of mangosteen pericarp with donepezil increases brain concentrations of donepezil at 4 hours by 64% without associated effects on systemic exposure.

FitTrim by Genesis Today: Common Questions

Does FitTrim by Genesis Today interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, FitTrim has a known interaction with 125 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
FitTrim contains 2 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take FitTrim if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
There isn't enough safety data to know either way. The available information suggests avoiding supplement amounts during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what's right for you before taking it.
Does FitTrim actually work for hair loss?
We don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether mangosteen helps with androgenic alopecia (pattern hair loss). The research on it isn't clear enough to rate it.
What side effects might I notice?
In studies using up to 560 mg daily of mangosteen extract, some participants reported mild fatigue, headache, dizziness, and stomach issues like nausea, constipation, or bloating — though it's unclear whether mangosteen actually caused them. It's not known if FitTrim will cause these at the dose in this product.
Is there anything else in FitTrim besides the active ingredients?
Yes — the capsule itself and several binders and flow agents (microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and rice hull concentrate) make up the rest of the tablet. These are typical inactive ingredients that help the supplement hold together and dissolve properly.
What does mangosteen actually do in the body?
Mangosteen extract is possibly effective for periodontitis, an infection of the gums and supporting structures. For other conditions like hair loss, eczema, and Alzheimer disease, we don't have enough evidence to say whether it helps.
