Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This 4-ingredient tincture contains stinging nettle root extract as its main active ingredient, plus green citrus peel extract, cape jasmine fruit extract, and a proprietary blend. The product also holds water and alcohol as inactive ingredients — the alcohol is part of how tinctures are typically made and preserved.
Stinging nettle root has been used traditionally for joint and urinary health. Green citrus peel and cape jasmine are botanical extracts included for their traditional properties.
We couldn't find interaction data on file for the pine pollen extract in the blend.
Does it work?
Not established
Stinging nettle is possibly effective for diabetes, meaning there's some clinical evidence behind its use — studies have shown it may help lower blood sugar. For other conditions like hay fever, anemia, asthma, benign prostate enlargement, and gum inflammation, the evidence isn't established well enough in the data we hold to rate it.
Green citrus peel and cape jasmine don't have established effectiveness ratings for any condition in our records.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Stinging nettle is generally well tolerated by most adults when used as directed, though individual product quality varies. The most common side effects are constipation and diarrhea taken by mouth.
There are rare case reports of liver injury, though these involved multi-ingredient products. Topical contact with fresh stinging nettle can cause itching, rash, and stinging that may last hours.
Stinging nettle should be avoided in pregnancy due to traditional concerns about effects on the uterus, and should be avoided while breastfeeding because safety hasn't been established — talk with your doctor about this. Green citrus peel extract comes with caution: the fruit itself is fine to eat, but concentrated supplements should be used with medical advice.
Cape jasmine is generally well tolerated as tea or aromatherapy, but the pure essential oil shouldn't be swallowed and can irritate skin — medicinal amounts need your doctor's approval.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on blood thinners like warfarin (Moderate interaction with stinging nettle), diabetes medications (Moderate), diuretics or water pills (Moderate), or lithium (Moderate). Green citrus peel may also have Minor interactions with certain sedatives your liver processes.
If you take any prescription medications, run them through the search tool on this page.

Green Citrus Peel Extract
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
In vitro, tangeretin, a constituent of tangerine, induces a 52% increase in the metabolism of midazolam by cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). This suggests that tangeretin may stimulate CYP3A4 activity. However, in humans, drinking tangerine juice 200 mL slightly delayed the absorption, but did not affect the metabolism, of midazolam, a CYP3A4 substrate. Theoretically, tangerine juice might increase CYP3A4 activity and decrease levels of drugs metabolized by this enzyme. However, this effect is unlikely.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include amitriptyline (Elavil), amiodarone (Cordarone), citalopram (Celexa), felodipine (Plendil), lansoprazole (Prevacid), ondansetron (Zofran), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), sertraline (Zoloft), sibutramine (Meridia), and many others.
Midazolam (Versed)
In vitro, tangeretin, a constituent of tangerine, appears to increase the metabolism of midazolam in human liver microsomes by up to 52%. However, in humans, drinking tangerine juice 200 mL slightly delayed the absorption, but did not affect the metabolism, of midazolam. Theoretically, tangerine juice might increase the metabolism and reduce the effects of midazolam. However, this effect is unlikely.
Stinging Nettle Root Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, stinging nettle might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that stinging nettle might decrease blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, combining stinging nettle with diuretic drugs may have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that the above ground parts and roots of stinging nettle may have a diuretic effect.
Lithium
Theoretically, stinging nettle might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Animal research suggests that stinging nettle has diuretic and natriuretic properties, which could alter the excretion of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is some concern that stinging nettle might decrease the effects of anticoagulant drugs such as warfarin.
Stinging nettle contains a significant amount of vitamin K. When taken in large quantities, this might interfere with the activity of warfarin.
