What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Goldenrod against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Goldenrod by Hawaii Pharm
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: certified organic Goldenrod extract in liquid form. The formula also includes vegetable palm glycerin, pharmaceutical-grade alcohol, and artesian Hawaiian purified water as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for goldenrod isn't established in our data for any of its traditional uses. We hold insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), dental plaque, kidney stones, or urinary tract infections.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work—it means human studies haven't yet built a strong case.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Goldenrod is often well tolerated in the short term, but human safety data are limited and allergic reactions are possible. Some people have experienced allergic contact dermatitis when goldenrod touched their skin.
In one case report, environmental exposure to goldenrod triggered hay fever and asthma symptoms in a person sensitive to the plant family it belongs to. Because there isn't enough safety information, the data advise against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
If you're pregnant, nursing, or planning either, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take diuretic drugs (water pills)—including those for high blood pressure, heart failure, or edema—double-check with your pharmacist before starting goldenrod. The combination could increase the drug's effects and side effects.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Goldenrod is a single-ingredient herbal extract that's often well tolerated short-term, but human evidence of benefit is lacking and safety data are limited. If you take diuretic medications, check with your pharmacist first.
If you have a known allergy to ragweed or related plants, skip it.
