Gut Buddies Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Gut Buddies against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Gut Buddies by Tishcon Corp.
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Gut Buddies contains three active probiotic ingredients: Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus helveticus (both live bacteria meant to support your digestive health) and Lactobacillus rhamnosis. The product also contains several inactive ingredients — the capsule material (hypromellose), fillers, and stabilizers like ascorbic acid and silicon dioxide — but the active components are the three bacterial strains.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for these probiotics isn't established in the data we hold. Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus helveticus have both been studied for conditions like antibiotic-associated diarrhea, allergic rhinitis, and cognitive function, but the research so far shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate them for any of those uses.
That doesn't mean they don't work — it means we don't yet have solid proof they do. Talk with your doctor about whether this product makes sense for what you're hoping to treat.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is advised if you're seriously ill or have a weakened immune system — check with your doctor first. Rare side effects reported include abdominal discomfort, flatulence, constipation, and one case of a dry cough.
There have been very rare cases of the bacteria themselves causing serious infections (bacteremia or sepsis) in critically ill infants and compromised patients, so this product isn't appropriate for everyone. Limited safety data exist for breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
The main medication type to double-check is antibiotic drugs — they may reduce how well these probiotics work, so you'll want to separate the timing. Use the medication checker below to review your exact prescriptions before starting.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Gut Buddies is a three-strain probiotic designed to support digestive health. It's generally well tolerated in healthy people, but if you're on antibiotics, you'll need to space out when you take it.
If you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, or pregnant/breastfeeding, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Gut Buddies by Tishcon Corp. Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Gut Buddies contains two probiotic bacteria with documented interactions.
The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs: both Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus helveticus may lose effectiveness if you take them at the same time as antibiotics. Since these probiotics are made of living organisms, antibiotics can kill them off.
The solution is simple — space out when you take them. Ask your pharmacist or doctor how far apart to separate them; typically a few hours works.

We could not check one of the three active ingredients in this product — Lactobacillus rhamnosis — so we hold no interaction data for it. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Before you start Gut Buddies, use the medication checker on this page to run through your exact prescriptions, especially if you're on antibiotics or any other regular medication.
