Lactobacillus acidophilus strains are rated possibly effective for Helicobacter pylori infection and bacterial vaginosis. For fructooligosaccharides, the evidence isn't established in our data for conditions like osteoporosis, constipation, diabetes, travelers' diarrhea, or high cholesterol.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotic strains in HMF Forte are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, fructooligosaccharides can cause gas, bloating, abdominal pain, and flatulence, especially at higher doses—though research shows doses under 10 grams per day are usually mild.
Probiotics may rarely cause gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort when taken together. Because supplement-level dosing hasn't been thoroughly studied, check with your doctor before starting.

Probiotic Consortium
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
