HMF Natogen Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Genestra Brands
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking HMF Natogen against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of HMF Natogen by Genestra Brands
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
HMF Natogen contains three active probiotic ingredients — two strains of Lactobacillus (paracasei and acidophilus) and one strain of Bifidobacterium. These are beneficial live bacteria meant to support your gut health.
The powder also contains lactose monohydrate as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence we hold covers Lactobacillus acidophilus. It's rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
It's rated possibly ineffective for atopic disease (eczema and related conditions), and the evidence for acute respiratory distress syndrome is too limited to rate. We don't have effectiveness data on file for the other two probiotic strains in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Some people taking it with other probiotics have reported mild gastrointestinal side effects like abdominal discomfort, bloating, flatulence, or diarrhea, but these are uncommon.
In rare cases, live probiotic organisms have been linked to serious infections in vulnerable patients. Since the safety data on this product are limited, check with your doctor before use, especially if you have a weakened immune system or are at risk for infection.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotics, tell your pharmacist — Lactobacillus acidophilus can lose effectiveness if you take them at the same time. We couldn't check two of the three active ingredients in this product against our data, so the interaction list may not be complete.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic may be worth considering if you have IBS, antibiotic-related diarrhea, or bacterial vaginosis, since Lactobacillus acidophilus has some supporting evidence for those uses. If you take antibiotics, space them apart from this product so the live bacteria don't get killed.
Check with your pharmacist first if you have a compromised immune system or serious illness.

HMF Natogen by Genestra Brands Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
HMF Natogen by Genestra Brands is a three-ingredient probiotic powder.
One of its active components, Lactobacillus acidophilus, has a documented interaction with antibiotics. Since these live probiotic organisms can be killed by antibiotic drugs, taking them at the same time might reduce how well the probiotic works.
We'd recommend spacing them apart — ask your pharmacist or doctor for the best timing.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
We couldn't check the other two active ingredients (Lactobacillus paracasei CUL-08 and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis CUL-62) against our current data, so we can't say whether they interact with medications. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Before you start HMF Natogen, run your complete medication list through the interaction checker on this page — especially if you take antibiotics now or regularly.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
