Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?

  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This supplement contains one active ingredient: indole-3-carbinol, a naturally occurring compound found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cabbage. You're getting 200 mg per capsule.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Indole-3-carbinol's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Estrogen metabolism and women's health.
  • We looked for evidence on: Breast cancer, Cervical dysplasia, Ovarian cancer, Hormonal balance, Estrogen metabolism.
  • The closest evidence on file: Indole-3-carbinol is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Breast cancer (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Indole-3-carbinol is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Cervical dysplasia, Ovarian cancer.

The evidence for what indole-3-carbinol does is still being worked out. The data we hold shows insufficient evidence to rate its use for breast cancer, colorectal cancer, cervical dysplasia, liver disease, or fibromyalgia.

That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the science isn't settled yet. If you're considering it for a specific health goal, it's worth talking through with your pharmacist or doctor about what the current research actually supports.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?

  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Orally, indole-3-carbinol is generally well tolerated, but it does come with some cautions. The most common side effects are diarrhea, nausea, rash, and dizziness or unsteadiness — especially at higher doses.

One person taking 400 mg twice daily developed imbalance and tremor after 10 days, which improved when the dose was cut in half. Because supplement doses are less studied than food amounts, use this cautiously.

The safety data also advises against use during pregnancy due to possible hormone effects, and supplement use is not recommended while breastfeeding.
