Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: jiaogulan extract, concentrated 10:1, supplying 4100 mg per capsule. Jiaogulan is a plant used in traditional medicine, and the extract form makes the dose more concentrated than the raw herb.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—cellulose, rice flour, magnesium stearate, and silica—which help form and preserve the supplement.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for jiaogulan is mixed. Clinical research shows it's possibly effective for diabetes, based on its ability to lower blood glucose.
For athletic performance, cardiovascular disease, cancer, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and respiratory tract infections, we don't yet have enough reliable evidence to rate whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Jiaogulan appears to be generally well tolerated in tea or supplement form for short periods—studies up to 4 months show it's well tolerated—but long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The most common side effects are diarrhea and nausea.
Some people also report dry mouth, dizziness, or insomnia. Avoid this product if you're pregnant; safety hasn't been established and it may affect the developing baby.
Also avoid it while breastfeeding because there isn't enough safety information.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or aspirin)—jiaogulan may increase bleeding risk. Also check if you're on diabetes medications or immunosuppressants, as jiaogulan could interfere with how well they work or raise your risk of low blood sugar.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Jiaogulan may be worth considering if you're interested in dietary support for blood sugar, but it isn't well-studied for most other uses. If you take blood thinners, diabetes medications, or immunosuppressants, you'll need to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting—the interactions are real enough to matter.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are times to skip it.

Jiaogulan 4100 mg by NusaPure Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Jiaogulan 4100 mg by NusaPure interacts with three types of medications, and the interactions are all Moderate severity.
Through its jiaogulan extract, this product may increase bleeding risk with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (medications like warfarin or aspirin), since in vitro research suggests jiaogulan itself has antiplatelet activity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Jiaogulan may also reduce how well immunosuppressants work. Clinical and animal studies show it can stimulate the immune system, which could interfere with medications given after transplants or for autoimmune conditions.
Additionally, it may raise the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you take diabetes medications. The research shows jiaogulan can lower blood glucose on its own, so combining it with antidiabetes drugs could push your levels too low.
Altogether, these interactions span 327 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to search your exact prescriptions before you start.
