Here's the basic idea with anagrelide (Agrylin): your medication already lowers your platelet count to keep your blood from clotting too easily. Jiaogulan may have a mild blood-thinning, anti-platelet quality of its own. Stack the two and, in theory, you could tip toward easier bleeding or bruising.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. The concern comes only from lab and test-tube research, not from real people, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, since you're on anagrelide, keep an eye out for easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or unusual bleeding that won't stop. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding jiaogulan so they can weigh it for your situation.

What Is Anagrelide Used For?

Brand name: Agrylin

Anagrelide — sold as Agrylin and as generic anagrelide capsules — is used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms. That means it's prescribed when a bone marrow disorder causes the body to produce too many platelets, raising the risk of dangerous blood clots.

By bringing platelet counts down to a safer range, anagrelide also helps reduce related symptoms, including bleeding and clotting events (thrombo-hemorrhagic events).
