Here's the idea behind this pairing. One of the reasons people take prednisolone is to calm down or quiet an overactive immune system, whether that's for severe allergies, certain types of arthritis, or to help protect a transplanted organ. Jiaogulan, on the other hand, has been studied as a plant that may gently stimulate the immune system. So in theory the two could work against each other, and jiaogulan might chip away at how well prednisolone keeps things in check.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave, not strong human proof. Still, if you're on prednisolone for something important like preventing transplant rejection or controlling a flare, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding jiaogulan. Don't change your steroid dose on your own.

Prednisolone is prescribed for many different conditions where inflammation or an overactive immune system is causing harm. These range from severe allergic reactions and asthma to certain skin diseases, blood disorders, eye problems, and some cancers.

It is also used to support the body when the adrenal glands aren't making enough of their own steroids, and to manage flares of conditions like ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, and nephrotic syndrome (a kidney condition causing protein loss in the urine).
