Here's something a little different about this pairing. Most blood sugar medicines work to lower your glucose, and that's where jiaogulan can add to the effect and push your sugar too low. But glucagon does the opposite. It's a rescue medicine that tells your liver to dump stored sugar into your blood, so you use it to raise a dangerously low blood sugar, often during an emergency.

Because jiaogulan may gently lower glucose on its own, it's working against what glucagon is trying to do, though this concern is mostly theoretical and based on limited research. The practical takeaway: if you keep glucagon on hand for emergencies, mention any jiaogulan use to your pharmacist or doctor so they can watch your overall blood sugar control.
