What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 6 active ingredients.
  • “Proprietary Blend of Probiotic Bacteria” is a proprietary blend — the label doesn't break down how much of each component you get.
  • “MAKTREK” is listed as a grouped ingredient — the label doesn't break down how much of each component you get.

This formula has 6 active ingredients: several live probiotic strains (Bifidobacterium animalis lactis BL-04, Lactobacillus plantarum LP-115, Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-14, and Lactobacillus paracasei LPC-37), plus fructooligosaccharides (a type of prebiotic fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria) and a Marine Polysaccharide Complex. The inactive ingredients are cellulose, maltodextrin, and L-leucine.

Does it work?

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: supports healthy digestion and immune system.
  • We looked for evidence on: Antibiotic-associated diarrhea, Bacterial vaginosis, Clostridioides difficile infection, Colic, Constipation, Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) — and 4 related terms.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Lactobacillus Acidophilus is rated "Possibly Effective" for Antibiotic-associated diarrhea (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Lactobacillus Acidophilus is rated "Possibly Effective" for Bacterial vaginosis, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
  • Also on file: Fructo-oligosaccharides (fos) is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Constipation.

L. acidophilus in this product is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. For the other live strains and the fructooligosaccharides, the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate their effectiveness — we don't have established ratings for how well they work on their own.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 2 of the 2 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 2 of 2.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 2 of 2.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

L. acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Gastrointestinal side effects from probiotic combinations—like stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, gas, bloating, diarrhea, and burping—are uncommon but can happen.

Fructooligosaccharides at food amounts are generally well tolerated, but higher supplement doses can cause gas and bloating; doses under 10 grams per day are typically mild. Because supplement-level doses of fructooligosaccharides aren't well studied, talk with your doctor before use.

We have no pregnancy or breastfeeding safety data on file for L. acidophilus or the other probiotic strains in this product — ask your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant or nursing.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 2 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Lactobacillus Acidophilus.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • For scale: 182 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take antibiotic drugs, check with your pharmacist — L. acidophilus in this product can be killed off by antibiotics taken at the same time, reducing the probiotic's effectiveness. Separate them by a few hours if possible.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

This probiotic may help with IBS, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and a few other gut conditions if L. acidophilus is your main active ingredient. If you're on antibiotics, space them several hours away from this supplement so the bacteria survive.

Talk with your pharmacist before starting, especially if you take prescription medications or have a weakened immune system.

Keto Probiotic 40 Billion CFU by Built By Keto: Common Questions

Does Keto Probiotic 40 Billion CFU by Built By Keto interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Keto Probiotic 40 Billion CFU has a known interaction with 182 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Keto Probiotic 40 Billion CFU contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this with my antibiotics?
Not at the same time. Antibiotics can kill off the live L. acidophilus bacteria in this product and make it less effective. Ask your pharmacist how long to wait between doses — usually a few hours is enough.
Will this help my IBS or bloating?
L. acidophilus in here is possibly effective for IBS. But be aware that this product itself can cause bloating and gas, especially the fructooligosaccharides at higher doses — so it might not help if gas is your main symptom.
What are the side effects?
Most people have no problems. Stomach discomfort, gas, bloating, and diarrhea are uncommon but can happen with probiotic mixes. The prebiotic fiber can cause gas and bloating on its own, especially at higher doses, though usually mild under 10 grams a day.
Is it safe to take if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
We don't have safety data on file for the probiotic strains in this product during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
What does fructooligosaccharides do?
It's a prebiotic fiber that feeds the good bacteria in your gut. The evidence for whether it helps with constipation, blood sugar, cholesterol, or bone health isn't established in our data — ask your pharmacist if it's right for your needs.
