Discussion: L-Cysteine is referred to as a semi-essential amino acid. The body produces small amounts of L-Cysteine, but supplementing with added L-Cysteine has many potential benefits. L-Cysteine is a protein building block that helps proteins hold their shape. L-Cysteine, along with the amino acids L-Glutamine and L-Glycine are used by the body to form Glutathione, the "Master Antioxidant." Aside from its use in Glutathione formation, L-Cysteine also helps provide nutritive support for digestion, hair, skin and nails.
