What’s inside
Full disclosure
This supplement contains one active ingredient: L-glutamine, 750 mg per capsule. Glutamine is an amino acid — a building block your body uses to make protein and other compounds.
The capsules themselves are made from bovine gelatin.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
L-glutamine is rated effective for sickle cell disease. It's rated possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related wasting, postoperative recovery (healing after surgery), and critical illness from trauma.
We don't hold effectiveness data for general wellness or other uses beyond these.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-glutamine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults. The most common side effects from oral doses are belching, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, gas, stomach pain, headache, muscle pain, nausea, and vomiting.
A few rare cases of dizziness, mania, and hypomania have been reported with higher doses, particularly in people with bipolar disorder. If you have kidney or liver disease, use this supplement only under medical supervision.
Pregnancy safety is rated likely safe, but there isn't enough reliable data to recommend supplemental doses while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on any anticonvulsant (anti-seizure) medication. Glutamine could theoretically interfere with how these drugs work, though this hasn't been confirmed in humans.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
L-glutamine may be worth considering if you're dealing with sickle cell disease or recovering from surgery or critical illness — but the evidence is stronger for sickle cell than for the others. If you take anticonvulsant (seizure) medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Gastrointestinal side effects are common, especially at higher doses.

L-Glutamine (750 mg) by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
L-Glutamine by BulkSupplements.com has one documented interaction category: anticonvulsant medications (drugs used to prevent seizures).
Theoretically, glutamine might work against these drugs because it's broken down in your body into glutamate, an excitatory brain chemical that could oppose how anticonvulsants work. However, this interaction hasn't been reported in actual people yet — it's based on how the ingredient behaves in the body, not on real-world cases.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Because this is a theoretical risk and anticonvulsants are critical for seizure control, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this supplement if you're on any seizure medication. Altogether, these interactions span 50 individual medications.
