Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

LeanWorx contains one active ingredient: salacia (Salacia chinensis) root extract. Salacia is a plant used traditionally in some cultures, and it's been studied for its potential effects on blood glucose and weight.

The capsules also contain rice powder, plant cellulose, and organic rice concentrate as inactive ingredients.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Salacia's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: support healthy insulin response to glucose.
  • We looked for evidence on: Diabetes, Blood sugar control, Glucose metabolism, Insulin sensitivity.
  • The closest evidence on file: Salacia is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Diabetes (Natural Medicines).

The evidence for salacia in LeanWorx isn't established yet. For both diabetes and obesity, the data we hold shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate whether it actually works.

That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means we need more clinical research to know.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Salacia is generally well tolerated short-term, though long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: abdominal pain, diarrhea, indigestion, gas, and nausea.

These tend to be dose-dependent and happen because undigested carbohydrates ferment in your bowel. During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety data, so it's best avoided.

While breastfeeding, there's no reliable safety information, so you should avoid it then too. If you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using this product.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Salacia.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 86 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking LeanWorx, double-check any antidiabetes medications you're on — insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas, or any other diabetes drug. Salacia can lower blood glucose and may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when combined with these medications.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

LeanWorx might be worth considering if you're interested in a plant-based approach to weight or blood sugar — but the evidence for it isn't clear yet. The big caution: if you take any diabetes medication, you need to check with us first because of the low blood sugar risk.

LeanWorx by SuperiorLabs: Common Questions

Does LeanWorx by SuperiorLabs interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, LeanWorx has a known interaction with 86 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
LeanWorx contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No — there isn't enough safety data during pregnancy, so it's best avoided then. While breastfeeding, there's no reliable safety information, so avoid it then too. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor for personalized advice on your situation.
What are the side effects I might feel?
The most common ones are stomach-related: abdominal pain, diarrhea, indigestion, gas, and nausea. These happen because undigested carbohydrates ferment in your bowel and tend to be worse at higher doses. Salacia is generally well tolerated overall, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied.
Does this actually work for weight loss or blood sugar?
The evidence we hold is insufficient to say whether it works. We'd need more clinical research to know for sure, so it's honest to say we can't rate it yet.
Why do I get gas and bloating from this?
Salacia slows how your body breaks down carbohydrates, so some carbs pass undigested into your colon. Bacteria there ferment them, which creates gas and bloating. These side effects are dose-dependent — smaller doses may cause fewer symptoms.
Is this safe to take long-term?
Salacia seems well tolerated in the short term, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied. If you're thinking about taking it regularly, discuss it with your pharmacist or doctor to make sure it's right for you.
