What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: ling zhi mushroom extract in a dry form, also known as reishi mushroom. The liquid also includes glycerin and water as inactive ingredients to deliver the extract.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that reishi is effective for high cholesterol — it's rated possibly ineffective for that use. For other conditions like altitude sickness, Alzheimer's disease, and athletic performance, there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Reishi mushroom is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth short-term, though long-term safety isn't well studied. Common side effects are dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset.
Some people report sore throat, runny nose, or rarely insomnia and headache. Respiratory allergy to reishi spores can happen too.
The safety data advises against using this product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — there isn't enough information to know it's safe in those situations. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs — reishi at higher doses may increase bleeding risk. Also double-check if you're on blood pressure medications or diabetes drugs, since reishi may add to their effects.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Reishi mushroom is generally well tolerated short-term, but it does interact with blood thinners, blood pressure drugs, and diabetes medications — so check your prescriptions first. The evidence doesn't support its use for high cholesterol, and there's not enough data on other claimed uses.
If you take any blood pressure, blood sugar, or clotting medications, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Ling Zhi Mushroom Extract, Dry
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
