Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

NusaPure Magnolia Bark is a single-ingredient supplement: magnolia bark extract in a capsule. The product also contains inactive ingredients — cellulose, silica, magnesium stearate, and rice flour — that help hold the capsule together and keep it stable on the shelf.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded Magnolia's overall clinical evidence instead.

Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports Magnolia for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: Gingivitis — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).

The evidence for magnolia bark is mixed. It's rated possibly effective for gingivitis (gum inflammation), so if you're dealing with gum health, it may be worth a try.

For allergic rhinitis (hay fever), anxiety, and dental plaque, the evidence we have isn't strong enough to say whether it works — more research is needed.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Taken by mouth, magnolia bark is generally well tolerated. The catch is that long-term human safety data is limited, so we don't know what happens if you take it for months or years.

Magnolia is not recommended during pregnancy because some sources suggest it may affect the uterus, and there's not enough safety data on breastfeeding to recommend it either — talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Magnolia.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 351 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs — magnolia may increase bleeding risk. Also flag any CNS depressants (sedatives, sleep aids, certain pain relievers), as magnolia's sedative effects could combine with theirs.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

NusaPure Magnolia Bark may be worth considering if you're looking into natural support for gingivitis, though the evidence is modest. If you take blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, or sedatives, check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this — the interaction risk is theoretical but documented.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, magnolia might have additive effects and increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that the chemicals magnolol and honokiol, isolated from magnolia bark, inhibit platelet aggregation that is experimentally induced by collagen and arachidonic acid. However, they do not inhibit platelet aggregation that is induced by adenosine diphosphate, platelet-activating factor, or thrombin. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cns Depressants

Theoretically, concomitant use of large doses of magnolia bark and CNS depressants might have additive effects.
In vitro and animal research shows that constituents extracted from magnolia bark, especially honokiol and magnolol, have sedative effects. These effects may be due to the inhibition of catecholamine release and modulation of gamma-aminobutyric acid-A (GABA-A) receptors.

Magnolia Bark by NusaPure: Common Questions

Does Magnolia Bark by NusaPure interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Magnolia Bark has a known interaction with 351 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Magnolia Bark contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this while I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No — magnolia bark is not recommended during pregnancy because of concerns it may affect the uterus, and there isn't enough safety data for breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.
What are the side effects?
Taken by mouth, magnolia is generally well tolerated. Topically (on skin) it can cause contact dermatitis. In clinical trials of combination products containing magnolia, a small number of people reported sexual dysfunction, shaking hands, numbness around the lips, fatigue, and headache — but it's unclear whether magnolia itself was responsible.
Does magnolia bark actually work?
For gingivitis, the evidence suggests it possibly effective. For hay fever, anxiety, and dental plaque, there isn't enough reliable evidence to say one way or the other yet.
Is this safe to take long-term?
The data we have is limited mostly to short-term use in adults. If you're thinking about taking it regularly for months, talk to your doctor or pharmacist about what we don't know yet.
What is magnolia bark used for?
It's primarily studied for gingivitis and gum health. It's also been looked at for hay fever and anxiety, though the evidence for those is not yet strong.
