What’s inside
Full disclosure
Maitake Mushroom Supplement contains one active ingredient: maitake mushroom powder. The capsules also hold cellulose and rice flour as inactive ingredients (binders and fillers).
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we hold doesn't yet support maitake mushroom for hay fever, cancer-related anemia, diarrhea from chemotherapy, laryngeal cancer, or chronic fatigue syndrome — we have insufficient reliable evidence for all of these. That doesn't mean it won't help; it means the research so far hasn't been robust enough to rate it.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Maitake mushroom is generally well tolerated when eaten as food, but safety data on concentrated supplements is limited. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — diarrhea and stomach pain — reported by small numbers of trial participants.
One patient experienced a rash and itching after two doses that cleared on its own. Concentrated supplements should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding because we don't have enough safety data either way.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist if you take warfarin (Coumadin) — maitake mushroom may increase its blood-thinning effects. Also double-check any blood pressure medications or diabetes drugs before starting, since maitake can lower both blood pressure and blood sugar.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Maitake mushroom may be worth considering if you're curious about immune support, but it's not proven for the conditions often claimed. If you take warfarin, blood pressure medications, or diabetes drugs, talk to your pharmacist before starting this — the interactions are real and worth managing.
Stomach upset is the main side effect to watch for.

Maitake Mushroom Supplement by Activa Naturals Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Maitake Mushroom by Activa Naturals does interact with several important medication types.
The most serious documented concern is with warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner — maitake mushroom may increase its effects, and a case report showed one patient's INR (a measure of blood thinning) climb to 5.1 after taking maitake for just one week, which could raise bleeding risk.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Maitake mushroom can also lower blood pressure and blood sugar. If you take blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs) or diabetes drugs, combining them with this supplement might push those levels too low — causing dizziness or low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Both are moderate-severity concerns based on how the supplement works.
Altogether, these interactions span 257 individual medications. Before you start maitake mushroom, run your exact prescriptions through the checker below, especially if you're on warfarin, blood pressure meds, or diabetes treatments.

Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
