HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Meratrim Gold 400 mg by NutriGold
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Meratrim Gold contains two active ingredients: Sphaeranthus indicus flower extract and a proprietary blend called Meratrim that includes mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana). The product comes in a vegetarian capsule with microcrystalline cellulose and vegetable stearate as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Not established
Mangosteen has been studied for several health uses, with mixed results. For periodontitis (gum disease), the evidence suggests it may be helpful.
However, for androgenic alopecia (male-pattern hair loss), Alzheimer disease, and atopic dermatitis (eczema), we don't have enough reliable evidence to know whether it works. The data on file doesn't describe what Sphaeranthus indicus is used for or how well it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Mangosteen is generally well tolerated as a food, but the long-term safety of concentrated supplement amounts hasn't been thoroughly studied. In clinical trials, mangosteen extract up to 560 mg daily was associated with mild tiredness, headache, dizziness, constipation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cough, and nasal congestion — though it's unclear whether mangosteen caused these or if they arose from something else.
The safety data advises against using supplement amounts of mangosteen during pregnancy and breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know it's safe.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Meratrim Gold, double-check if you're on any blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (warfarin, clopidogrel, aspirin, and others) — mangosteen may increase bleeding risk. Also flag it if you take donepezil for Alzheimer disease, as mangosteen might raise its levels in your brain.
For any other medications, check them against the search tool on this page or ask your pharmacist.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have gum disease and don't take blood thinners or donepezil, this might be worth discussing with your doctor. If you do take those medications, you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist first — the bleeding risk and potential boost to donepezil are real concerns.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Talk it over with your healthcare provider before starting, since safety data is limited.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Meratrim Gold 400 mg contains mangosteen, which has documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, clopidogrel, and aspirin) — mangosteen may increase your bleeding risk when combined with these.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Mangosteen also interacts with donepezil (Aricept), a medication for Alzheimer disease. Animal studies suggest it could increase how much donepezil reaches your brain, potentially intensifying its effects.
Altogether, these interactions span 125 individual medications. We couldn't check Sphaeranthus indicus because we hold no data for it.
Before you start Meratrim Gold, run your exact medications through the tool on this page, or talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist — especially if you take any blood thinners or donepezil.

Garcinia mangostana
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro and animal research shows that gamma-mangostin, a constituent of mangosteen, is a potent and competitive antagonist of the serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor. Antagonism of the 5-HT2A receptor is believed to reduce platelet aggregation.
Donepezil (Aricept)
Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with donepezil might increase the effects of donepezil.
Animal research shows that concomitant use of an aqueous extract of mangosteen pericarp with donepezil increases brain concentrations of donepezil at 4 hours by 64% without associated effects on systemic exposure.
