Multiple Formula Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Multiple Formula against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Multiple Formula contains six active ingredients in a proprietary blend. Dandelion, rhodiola, burdock, Oregon grape, maca, and stinging nettle are combined in this liquid formulation.
The product also contains spring water, alcohol, and glycerine as inactive ingredients. Each of these herbs has traditionally been used for different purposes — dandelion for liver and digestive support, rhodiola for stress and energy, burdock for skin and detoxification, Oregon grape for skin conditions, maca for vitality, and stinging nettle for mineral content and joint support — though the evidence for their effectiveness at supplement doses varies widely, as noted in the effectiveness section below.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence supporting these ingredients is limited. For dandelion, the data we hold show insufficient reliable evidence for joint pain, tonsillitis, and postoperative swelling or pain.
Rhodiola likewise lacks sufficient evidence for altitude sickness, anxiety, arrhythmia, athletic performance, and bladder cancer. Burdock shows insufficient evidence for acne, aging skin, breast cancer, colds, and eczema.
Oregon grape is rated possibly effective for psoriasis, but shows insufficient evidence for eczema, reflux, and peptic ulcers. Maca has insufficient evidence for amenorrhea, anemia, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, and osteoporosis.
Stinging nettle is rated possibly effective for diabetes and shows insufficient evidence for hay fever, anemia, asthma, prostate health, and gum health. In short, while some traditional uses have preliminary support, most conditions listed lack robust clinical proof at the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Dandelion is generally well tolerated as a food, though supplement-strength doses are less studied; the most common side effects are diarrhea, heartburn, and stomach discomfort. Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, are rare but possible, especially in people sensitive to the daisy family (ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds).
Rhodiola is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but long-term safety is not well studied; dizziness and dry mouth or excessive saliva production are reported. The safety data advises against rhodiola use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Burdock is likely safe as a food and for short-term use, though human data are limited; rare allergic reactions including anaphylaxis can occur. A case of liver injury was reported after one month of taking an herbal tea containing burdock and other ingredients, though it's unclear if burdock was the cause.
Contact dermatitis has been reported with topical burdock root oil. Oregon grape (berberine-containing) should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to safety concerns.
Maca is generally well tolerated as a food, though long-term supplement safety hasn't been studied; fresh, uncooked maca may cause stomach pain. The safety data advise against maca in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient data.
Stinging nettle is generally well tolerated for most adults; constipation and diarrhea are the most common side effects. A case of liver injury was reported after one month of an herbal tea containing stinging nettle and other ingredients, though causation is unclear.
The safety data advise against stinging nettle in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check these medication types with your doctor or pharmacist, starting with the most serious: immunosuppressants like cyclosporine, blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelets) including warfarin, diabetes medications, blood pressure drugs, water pills and potassium-sparing diuretics, lithium, sedating drugs (CNS depressants), and drugs metabolized by liver enzymes (CYP1A2, CYP2C9, CYP2D6, CYP3A4, P-glycoprotein, and UDP-glucuronosyltransferase substrates). Also check for fluoroquinolone antibiotics, as dandelion may lower their levels.
The bottom line

Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Dandelion and stinging nettle both carry moderate interactions with blood thinners (anticoagulants/antiplatelets), raising bleeding risk. Dandelion also interacts moderately with diabetes medications (raising low-blood-sugar risk), potassium-sparing water pills (raising potassium to unsafe levels), and several enzyme-metabolized drugs.
Rhodiola interacts moderately with blood pressure medications, diabetes drugs, and a range of enzyme substrates, as well as the specific drug losartan. Oregon grape carries moderate interactions with blood pressure drugs, diabetes medications, blood thinners, sedating drugs, and multiple enzyme-metabolized medications.
Stinging nettle interacts moderately with diabetes drugs, water pills (diuretics), and warfarin specifically.
Burdock carries a moderate interaction with blood thinners. Maca is the only ingredient we could not check — no interaction data is on file for it.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,384 individual medications. Before taking this product, run your exact medications through the checker on this page and discuss the results with your doctor or pharmacist.
