What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Nettle against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: organic freeze-dried stinging nettle. Stinging nettle is a plant used traditionally to support several body systems, and modern research has looked at its effects on blood sugar, seasonal allergies, and other conditions.
The capsule also contains two inactive ingredients—certified organic acacia and a vegetarian capsule—to hold and deliver the herb.
Does it work?
Not established
Stinging nettle is possibly effective for diabetes support based on available evidence—clinical research suggests it may help lower blood sugar. For allergic rhinitis (hay fever), anemia, asthma, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and gingivitis, the evidence we hold is too limited to say whether it works or doesn't.
If you're considering nettle for any of these other purposes, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether the evidence supports it for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Stinging nettle is generally well tolerated by most adults when used as directed, though quality and evidence vary by product. The most common side effects are constipation or diarrhea when taken by mouth.
If you touch raw nettle leaves, you may experience itching, rash, and stinging on the skin—rarely, direct contact in the mouth has caused severe swelling and throat pain. Do not take this supplement during pregnancy; the safety data advises against it due to traditional concerns about effects on the uterus.
Safety during breastfeeding has not been established, so avoid it until you speak with your doctor. There are rare case reports of liver injury linked to herbal products containing nettle, though causality is unclear.
If you develop abdominal pain or yellowing of the skin or eyes while taking this, stop and contact your doctor right away.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this nettle supplement, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on warfarin or another blood thinner, antidiabetes medication, a diuretic (water pill), or lithium. All four interact at a moderate level, and your provider may need to adjust doses or monitor you more closely.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Pure Synergy Nettle may be worth considering if you're exploring herbal support for blood sugar, and it's generally easy on the stomach for most people. However, if you take warfarin, diabetes drugs, water pills, or lithium, you need to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it—the interactions are real and could affect how your medications work.
Pregnant women and those breastfeeding should avoid it.

Nettle by Pure Synergy Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Pure Synergy Nettle, made from organic freeze-dried stinging nettle, has documented interactions with four medication types: antidiabetes drugs, diuretic drugs, lithium, and warfarin (a blood thinner).
The most serious concern is with warfarin—nettle is rich in vitamin K, which can reduce how well the blood thinner works if you take large amounts of the supplement.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Antidiabetes drugs and diuretics both carry a moderate interaction risk. Nettle may lower blood sugar on its own, so combining it with diabetes medications could push your levels too low.
Similarly, nettle appears to have mild water-pill properties, and stacking it with prescription diuretics might amplify that effect. Lithium, used for mood disorders, is also flagged at moderate severity—nettle's diuretic action may interfere with how your body clears lithium, potentially raising it to unsafe levels.
Altogether, these interactions span 164 individual medications. Before you start this supplement, run your current prescriptions through the interaction checker on this page—especially if you take any blood thinner, diabetes medication, water pill, or lithium.

Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, stinging nettle might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that stinging nettle might decrease blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, combining stinging nettle with diuretic drugs may have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that the above ground parts and roots of stinging nettle may have a diuretic effect.
Lithium
Theoretically, stinging nettle might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Animal research suggests that stinging nettle has diuretic and natriuretic properties, which could alter the excretion of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is some concern that stinging nettle might decrease the effects of anticoagulant drugs such as warfarin.
Stinging nettle contains a significant amount of vitamin K. When taken in large quantities, this might interfere with the activity of warfarin.
