Nettles Max-V contains two active ingredients. Silica (from silicon) is included for its possible benefit in bone health, and stinging nettle herbal extract—the above-ground plant material—makes up the rest.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, and vegetable stearate, which are binders and fillers that hold the capsule together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
For silica, the evidence leans toward a possible benefit for osteoporosis, but the data for hair loss and dental health is too limited to rate. Stinging nettle shows a possibly effective rating for diabetes management—some clinical research suggests it may help lower blood glucose—but evidence for hay fever, anemia, asthma, prostate health, and gum disease isn't established enough in our data to say whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Silica from food and typical supplement doses is generally well tolerated with no adverse effects reported at normal intake. However, long-term safety at high doses hasn't been well studied.
The safety data advises against silica during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Stinging nettle is generally well tolerated for most adults; the most common side effects are constipation or diarrhea taken by mouth.
Very rare cases of liver inflammation have been reported. The safety data advises against stinging nettle during pregnancy because of traditional concerns about effects on the uterus.
During breastfeeding, safety hasn't been established, so it's best to avoid it until you talk with your doctor.

Stinging Nettle Herbal Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, stinging nettle might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that stinging nettle might decrease blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, combining stinging nettle with diuretic drugs may have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that the above ground parts and roots of stinging nettle may have a diuretic effect.
Lithium
Theoretically, stinging nettle might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Animal research suggests that stinging nettle has diuretic and natriuretic properties, which could alter the excretion of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is some concern that stinging nettle might decrease the effects of anticoagulant drugs such as warfarin.
Stinging nettle contains a significant amount of vitamin K. When taken in large quantities, this might interfere with the activity of warfarin.
