What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking NiaCel against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
NiaCel is a single-ingredient supplement containing nicotinamide riboside chloride, a compound related to niacin (vitamin B3) that your cells use to produce energy. Nicotinamide riboside is meant to boost NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), a coenzyme involved in cellular energy and aging-related processes.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients: hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, leucine, and silicon dioxide — these are binders, thickeners, and fillers with no active role.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for nicotinamide riboside in age-related cognitive decline, macular degeneration, Alzheimer's disease, athletic performance, fatty liver disease, and heart failure is insufficient to rate. This means clinical research hasn't yet established whether it works for these uses.
More robust trials are needed before we can say whether NiaCel is effective for any of these purposes.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Nicotinamide riboside appears well tolerated in short-term studies, though long-term safety isn't fully known. The most common side effects reported in trials are bloating, muscle pain, nausea, itching, sweating, and temporary changes in bowel habits.
A few people have reported leg cramps or mild muscle soreness in specific trials. During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety data, so it's best to avoid it.
The same applies to breastfeeding — the data isn't there to say it's safe. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding before taking this product.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
Check your blood pressure medications with your doctor or pharmacist before taking NiaCel. Nicotinamide riboside may add to the blood-pressure-lowering effect of these drugs, theoretically raising the risk of low blood pressure (hypotension).
We could not check for interactions with other ingredients because this product contains only nicotinamide riboside.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
NiaCel is a single-ingredient NAD+ booster that appears generally well tolerated short-term, but evidence for its effectiveness in the marketed uses is insufficient. If you take blood pressure medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, since nicotinamide riboside may theoretically lower blood pressure further.
Avoid it during pregnancy and while breastfeeding due to limited safety data. For personalized advice about whether NiaCel is right for you, talk it over with your own healthcare provider.

NiaCel by Thorne Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Thorne's NiaCel contains nicotinamide riboside, which has documented interactions with one category of medications.
The main concern is with blood pressure drugs (antihypertensive medications) — nicotinamide riboside may add to their effect and theoretically increase the risk of low blood pressure (hypotension), though the evidence is limited and the interaction is rated Minor.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
One small study suggests nicotinamide riboside can modestly lower blood pressure in people with high blood pressure, but other research hasn't found the same effect. This means the actual risk depends partly on how your body responds and which specific blood pressure medication you take.
Altogether, these interactions span 172 individual medications.
If you take a blood pressure drug, check your exact medications with the tool on this page before starting NiaCel, and let your doctor or pharmacist know you're considering it.
