What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: burdock seed extract (dry form). Burdock is a plant root long used in traditional medicine and as a food.
The liquid also holds glycerin and water as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold shows insufficient reliable data to rate burdock for acne, aging skin, breast cancer, common cold, or atopic dermatitis (eczema). If you're considering this supplement for one of these uses, the research backing isn't established yet — talk with your doctor about what the science actually supports for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Burdock is generally well tolerated when eaten as a food and used short-term in healthy adults, though human safety data are limited. Allergic reactions are rare but possible, including contact dermatitis and anaphylaxis.
One case of liver injury was reported in someone taking a multi-ingredient detox tea that contained burdock, though it's unclear whether burdock was the culprit. Contact dermatitis has also been reported with prolonged use of burdock root oil or burdock plasters.
During pregnancy, avoid medicinal amounts due to lack of safety data and possible effects on the uterus. While breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety information, so don't use medicinal amounts — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.
Neither the product facts nor broader safety data permit a simple yes or no here; your own healthcare provider can weigh the specifics with you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (such as warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel), check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product — burdock may theoretically increase bleeding risk, though this hasn't been confirmed in humans.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Burdock is a traditional plant with a long food history and few reported side effects, but the research doesn't yet support its use for common skin or health concerns. The main caution is with blood thinners — if you take any, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding both warrant a conversation with your own provider before use.
